hey hun i really wish ppl would get their facts straight before answering questions about health, as so many appear to be experts but know nothing!
unfortuant;y it CAN be passed on to the baby. when i was pregnant i came into contact with it and was told that the baby can catch it in utro and it will come out in spots etc. the virus can cause birth defects, however, the link below will explain the facts. as your fiance isnt 20 weeks yet the risks are smaller, but there are still risks.
she has done the right thing and fingers crossed the blood test results will show that she is immune to it which means the chances of her catching it are slim and therefore the baby wont catch it.
the incubation period is 2 weeks for chicken pox so if she hasnt had it by then, then its doubtful she will. but keep her away from work until the virus has been gone a week!
i have my fingers crossed and thoughts and prayers are with you both and for you little one good luck x x

I've heard that is worse than measles. It makes the baby blind and retarded. Pray that she does not get it.
After this baby is born, it would be good if she got a chicken pox shot.

My mum had chicken pox whilst she carried me consequently i have never had chicken pox nor shingles (even though my mum used to make me play with kids who had the 'pox' ) so i'd catch it. Its german measles thats worst while you are pregnant.

The bug for chickenpox can be VERY dangerus to a pregnant women, it can harm the unborn baby, possibly even result in miscarraige, she really needs to avoid it till the chickpox epidemic is gone. Her dctor/midwife shouldve told her this already

I think chicken poxs aren't transmitted internally. The baby shouldnt be harmed because thats internal.

check out this link. It is harmful to pregnant women. Have her see her doctor for possible antibiotics to rid it or avoid catching it. I'm not sure what damage it could do though. Hope this helps.
