I doubt you will get it...I crave sugar and I eat it all the time and never got it...I'm healthy though to. I think you will be fine, it's more common in overweight/ african american women, or women who already have diabetes...You will be okay! But, it's okay to worry, cause I thought I was getting everything too! lol! Good luck!

Oh my goodness, I can not believe someone just said that is the leading cause of death for a fetus... It is VERY normal and VERY common to become anemic in the end of your pregnancy. All anemia is, is a defiency of iron. Your doctor should have put you on an iron supplement. If he did take them with a glass of milk. Vitamin D will help it absorb. As far as gestational diabetes, follow the diet that your doctor put you on. You may have bigger baby because of the GD. The doctor may actually induce you soon. Alot of doctors will induce a bit early when a woman has gestational diabetes because the baby will get to be so big it can be impossible to have a vaginal delivery, but not nessisarily always the rule. Just a few more weeks hun... hang in there!

There is no need to be worried about developing Gestational Diabetes. Even if you do develop it, it is generally able to be controlled by diet and exercise and sometimes medication. You will be monitored more closely for signs of problems such as your baby growing too large. Eating sugar does not cause any type of diabetes. Diabetes is a result of a problem with insulin production. In the case of Gestational Diabetes, insulin issues are caused by hormones. Eating healthy at all times, especially when pregnant, with plenty of fresh vegetables, lean meats, low-fat dairy products, whole grains products with limits on sweet, starchy, and fatty foods is a good goal. Routine testing for Gestational Diabetes is done around 24-28 weeks gestation. Many people mistakenly think simply eating less sugar will help with diabetes, but it is much more complicated than that. Foods such as bread, cereal, rice, pasta, fruit, juice, yogurt, milk, starchy vegetables such as potatoes, corn, green peas, and dried beans all contain carbohydrates as well as sugary snacks. For a diabetic, consuming all these foods in a controlled quantity consistently throughout the day is a key component to the diabetic meal plan. Cutting back on sugar will be more healthy for you, but it won't guarantee you won't develop Gestational Diabetes. I had Gestational Diabetes with my youngest baby. I was able to control it well with diet and she weighed 6 pounds 14 ounces. One of the issues with Gestational Diabetes is it puts you at greater risk for developing Type 2 Diabetes later in life. I have recently been diagnosed with Glucose Intolerance, which is a pre-diabetic condition, so I am once again back on a specialized meal plan in an attempt to keep Type 2 Diabetes at bay as long as possible.

Your doctor is going to test you for g.d. at around 24 weeks. If you are overweight, or have a family history of type 1 or type 2 diabetes, you are at greater risk for getting it. Yes, you should cut back on your sugar consumption - the test is really horrible if you fail the 1 hour glucose screen and have to take the 4 hour one - but, you'll do more damage to yourself and the baby by worrying about every little thing. Relax. Enjoy being pregnant, and take things as they come. Don't borrow trouble.

I'm a carb junkie!! They tested me for GD early at just 8 weeks and I failed the one hour test by 8 points...I took the three hour test and passed with flying colors...so your intake of sugar/carbs isnt neccessarily going to affect you what causes GD is the bodies inability to absorb the additional sugars produced during pregnancy...is there a history of diabetes in your family? are you overweight? by exercising and consuming no more than 50% carbs in a day you should be ok....

if you are craving sugar you may have a deficiency in some minerals, which are often a cause of pregnancy cravings, so maybe get a blood test.. it would be good to cut down on sweet things anyway as they are very filling and you may not be hungry enough to eat enough nutritious food you need to fully meet your babies nutritional needs. But don't get too worried about it too much, being calm and happy is important too!

Changing your diet to include less sugar is fine. Don't cut it out completely though. Sugar alone doesn't cause GD, so don't be worried and even if you end up with it, it's very easy to deal with. I had it with my last pregnancy and really only felt thirsty. You won't get tested for GD for a while.

I dont think eating sugar causes you to have gestational diabetes unless your at risk of getting it.
