A recurring question from liberals is "Why did we attack Iraq, they didn't do 9/11". Apparently, we were supposed to let Saddam off the hook

Saddam did indeed attack us. On numerous occasions throughout the 1990s heat-seeking missiles were lanched at US aircraft with the intention of bringing them down and killing the crew. Is that's not an "attack" then what is?

Germany declared war on the US because we were supplying goods and materials to Great Britain.
Saddam was shooting at US planes on a daily basis for years, in violation of several UN resolutions before we attacked Iraq. I would consider a foreign country shooting at our planes an act of war, we had every right to attack Saddam. He was warned repeatedly and chose to ignore the consequences of his actions.
Understanding history can help in understanding the decisions made today. Look at how the world ignored Hitler, although he was violating treaties that forbid Germany from developing offensive weapons. He disguised these programs as legitimate civilian programs (i.e. a military transport plane developed as an air mail plane). Other programs were just done covertly. The world buried it's head in the sand until it was too late, the results were disastrous. The world is full of evil people with bad intentions, we need to be vigilant or we are condemned to repeat history.

Germany was already making war on the United States by attacking and sinking our merchant ships bringing supplies to Great Britain. And Germany and Japan were allies with Italy in what was known as the Axis Powers. So if you went to war with one of them you might as well have been prepared for all of them. Besides at this point Great Britain was all alone on that side of the world. The US realized that if they didn't help hold this last foothold in Europe, they would have to fight Germany from the sea.

As per usual- nah, scratch that, as always, your analogies are dubious at best. Iraq is not our enemy- there was no "grave and gathering threat" posed to the US, and there were no WMD. And while Saddam's human rights record is undeniably atrocious, to imply that it's comparable to Hitler's is to trivialize what the latter did. Moreover, if we're so concerned about human rights, why the inordinate focus on Iraq? Where's was the "concern" for the safety of oppressed minorities in places like Rwanda and Darfour, among countless others? And although I'm not expecting an answer, if you're so gung-ho in support of the war in Iraq, shouldn't you be there as we speak? How do you reconcile supporting the war but not taking part in it- what could you possibly be doing here that's more important, if the Bush administration's rhetoric is to be taken seriously?

Enemies don't oblige is by coming at us one at a time.
America declared war on Japan right after Pearl Harbor. And of course Japan declared war on America. Since Japan was part of the Axis alliance, Germany and Italy fulfilled their duty as allies by declaring war on America. Then America declared war on Germany and Italy.
And we had a true world war, fought in every continent except Antarctica.

Germany declared war on us after the Japanese attack. Liberals don't say we can only have one enemy at a time, we simply say that there's no reason to create enemies. When we question why we attacked Iraq as they had nothing to do with 9/11, the point is that they had done nothing to us, but it was an implied reason for the war that they had. We're in favor of defending ourselves against those who do or us harm, but not attacking those who have done nothing and are not likely to do anything to us.

No I was just curious that if Sadam Hussian was such a monster. then what is the Islamic Forces in African durfur doing? Where the worst genocide in the history of the world is occurring? Or is it just in oil rich countries that bad people are not allowed to rule. Is the treatment of people and women are kinder in Africa or Saudi Arabia?
Or even Pakistan?
You can have lots of enemies, just why do you think you have the right to rule the world. Taking what countries you want.
that was their government, their ruler and their system of justice. It was up to them to change the situation.
they never asked for our help. Germany attacked Poland and massacured the people then they killed their own countrymen because of their religion Jehovah's Witnesses or Jews, Gypsys and any dark complexioned people.
Only when they killed Americans in England did the USA step in. That was a different time and place.
What is this liberals and conservatives crap.
Some or most people have ideas from both parties and no they do not encourage terriorusts. It is the Repubicans who are making a divideing line and in the end it will be your down fall. You are appearing way to extreme and it scares people. We have seen what extremists in political office can do.

To answer the question Germany declared war on the US to the surprise of many Japanese officials. Hitler twisted the Tripartite Pact, Article III to allow him to declare war on the US. This is considered Hitler's second mistake, his first attacking Russia.

Obviously you know NOTHING about US and world history so listen up! The German U Boats were sinking US merchant ships. Germany was an ally to Japan. The Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor and we are at war with both Germany and Japan. We bombed both countries. Both did us harm. Now if we had gone after Argentina for the Pearl Harbor attack than you would have a point. But we actually went after those who declared war on us and those who actually attacked us.
Where is Bin Laden and Al Qaeda anyway? Have we even attempted to take care of them? If Bush had been president at the time of Pearl Harbor he probably would have bombed Brazil for the rubber or Egypt just for the sand to make glass out of.
