"Teacher Man" by Frank McCourt... a prize-winning author who tells us another segment of his autobiography in this terrific book about what it was like for him to learn about teaching English in four New York City high schools.
It has all the humor, wit and poignancy one can expect from a Irish master of storytelling.
And there is much "high school drama."

Some books I loved; "Namesake", "Sloppy Firsts", "Perfect Strangers", "Alice, I think", "Kim: Empty Inside", "Don't you dear read this Mrs.Dunphrey", "Bad Company" [it was okay but I read it when I was in Middle school] and that's all I can think off from the top of my head.
