the following report from Bali by the Associated Press Wednesday under the headline "Poor Nations Demand Climate Technology"

Developing nations at the U.N. Climate Change Conference demanded rapid transfers of technology Wednesday to help them combat global warming, while a report warned that some of Asia's biggest cities could be threatened by rising sea levels.

[...]

Delegates and activists led by the Group of 77, which represents 132 mainly developing countries and China, said barriers such as intellectual property rights and a lack of a sense of urgency among rich countries are slowing the transfer of needed technology.

But Zou Ji, a member of China's delegation who specializes in clean-energy-technology issues, said in an interview he would introduce a proposal during the meeting that would set up a body under the United Nations to promote the transfer of renewable-energy technology to poorer nations.

He will also propose that the U.N. body manage a fund that would help finance the spread of new, clean-power technologies. The fund also would support research on clean-energy technology and could acquire intellectual-property rights related to clean power.

"We are dealing with something related to public good," Mr. Zou said. "It's a trade-off between intellectual-property rights and climate protection."

so In the war on global warming save these folks helped create and instill fear of, American companies that conceivably have been working for years to develop new energy technologies must forfeit their rights to such valuable property.

That is a 2-edged sword. Cutting one way; the poor nations get their technology. Cutting the other way, the holders of innovative intellectual property would not be able to reap the benefits of their genius....

In other words, the inventor would probably say, "I'm not getting anything for my inspiration and my genius...to hell with it...no more creativity..."

anytime you take capitalism and free enterprise out of an equation...we suffer. They should have stripped Al Gore of his private plane instead. That would put a serious dent in GW. We all need to take care of the planet, but global warming is a global farce believed only by the faithless, and naive, this issue has come up about every 20 years since the early 1900's as either warming or cooling--do your own research of the facts then decide.

I think it's time conservatives give into global warming.
Do you realize the money to be made from combating global warming.
The carbon credit idea should be expanded into all aspects of life, not just businesses. As example, everybody in your neighborhood should pay you a $1 if they use a leaf blower and you use a rake to rake your yard. They should pay even more if you use a reel mower on your grass and they use a power mower. Perhaps if you pedal your bicycle to work instead of driving your car, every car that passes you should pay you 50 cents.
I am sure if we apply our minds to this, ordinary people can make big bucks.

No. GW is a political hoax to do things just like you describe. It's a UN power grab, trying to shift the balance of world power to the undeveloped and unmontivated laggart countries of the world. i.e. Socialt countries. Most sucesbtible to this hoax are young idealistsic college kids. In 20 years when you see that temps are about the same, you will see what i mean.

PS READ AGAIN. MY FIRST WORD IS YOUR ANSWER.
NO NO NO. Let them buy our tech like we buy their cheap toys.
