I LOVE "Lux Aeterna" from Requiem For A Dream. It's not exactly rock, but it's a beutiful song that brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it.
It's used all the time in movie trailers, most notably in The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers.

Requiem For A Dream has my favorite soundtrack ever.

Ooooh! I love this question Jake!

I'm no good at singular favourites, so :~

Don't You (Forget About Me) ~ Simple Minds
{from The Breakfast Club}

Against All Odds ~ Phil Collins
{from Against All Odds}

Keep On Running ~ Spencer Davis Group
{from Buster}

Holding Out for A Hero ~ Bonnie Tyler
{from Footloose}

Danger Zone ~ Kenny Loggins
Sitting On the Dock of the Bay ~ Otis Redding
{from Top Gun}

And I don't normally like The Cure, but I do like 'Burn' :)

Edit :~

I forgot about 'Dead Souls'!

Jake, I didn't know you like The Cure? You've earned even more of my respect now.(as if it really matters).

I would say my fav. song featured in a movie is Nine Inch Nails "Something I Can Never Have" from Natural Born Killers. Which was also prdouced by the man himself, Trent Reznor.

Your opening up a can of worms on this one. I'm assuming we can't mention documentaries...

All time favorite is Story Of My Life by Social Distortion. It's been in several movies. "Reality Bites," "The Breakup," "Orange County," and "Life or Something Like It."

I'm not even going to get going on the soundtracks to Suburbia (1984), Godmoney, and SLC Punk.
