Here's one from last year.
First of all, they don't investigate anything after someone is dead. What's the point?
The Innocence Project has been able to get over 200 people, who were convicted and sitting on death row, exonerated.
They have them all documented here....http://www.innocenceproject.org/

the problem is that states refuse to fund post mortem innocence investigations. this leaves investigations to private groups, which mostly rely on donations from the public. this is yet another reason why capital punishment is in violation of our fundamental rights. your question brings focus upon the irreversibility of capital punishment.

I only know that several on death row have been released due to DNA testing that was not available when they were convicted.

Could you please narrow your question to a specific country? Many are said to be executed on a regular basis in certain countries where the leaders are dictators.
