Answer: You only feel hurt because someone has abused some element of trust you have laid at their feet.
That Power you have given them is still yours ~ by simply removing it - 'I refuse to be hurt by someone I can no longer trust' ~ which is that persons loss, not yours. They have one person 'less' in the world to turn to for help if they need it, and one person LESS in the world who can trust them.
Stick by your feelings ~ STAND UP for YOUR feelings because they are You, they are who you are and your life's experience.
If others choose to buy into the other persons indifference to your feelings and your vulnerabilities, then fine, they are not worthy of your considerations. Walk.
Being vulnerable is perfectly human: We each need Water, Oxygen and Food .....and will quickly die if any one of them is taken from off of the menu. Thus we are very, very vulnerable = being ''Human.''

I don't know what particular case you're talking about.
I FIRMLY believe NO ONE wants to purposely HURT anyone else. That's simplistic. It just sometimes end up that way, despite our efforts:(
Take for example love, this complicated cerebral and emotional stuff. If you fall in love with your mate FASTER than he does with you, and you start pouring your heart out to him...and then he feels pressured or scared or not ready and pulls out...that will HURT YOU. It doesn't mean your mate wanted to hurt you. It just means life's complicated and relationships are complicated and delicate and we can't expect people to act a certain way just because we showed out true feelings to them. They're entitled to being scared or unsure or emotional too. We'll all get through a lot of HURT AND PAIN that will polish us and make us stronger. Cheer up!!!!!!

Some people are simply insecure and jealous that others can open up. They'll use anything you reveal against you emotionally. Not all people are like this, and you have to risk getting hurt before you know who you can open up to - your real friends. Hope you're not having too much of a hard time right now.

There are people who actually derive pleasure by hurting others ; it is a hard thing to cope with when people betray the trust you have placed in them and use that information to hurt you .
I am sorry that you have been hurt ; in my own life I have found that those closest to you hurt you the most and it is difficult to place your trust in someone / anyone afterwards .
I hope and pray that all will go well for you ; happy & safe holidays ! :0)

It's not that people start trying to hurt you after you show your true feelings, it's just that it's so much easier after you've taken off your armour. Trying to hurt someone you don't know is a random, hit-and-miss affair. However, once you know someone's weak points, it's like shooting fish in a barrel.

You become vulnerable, but don't let that put you off. Be true to yourself, if not you will only hurt yourself and it's much, much worse than the hurt you may experience from others by wearing your heart on your sleeve. Ask yourself this question. If you don't be who you are, what are you?

True but the only alternative is to cut yourself off emotionally. Not really reccomendable.Better to show wiser judgement on those you trust with your feelings not everyone is so callous.
