I am trying to assess where I am in my current physics class but since his grading system is different than most, I am not sure where I stand.

My quiz cumulative grade is 72% and is worth 25% of my grade

My average test score is 60% and is worth 30% of my grade.

My homework average is 80% and is worth 5% of my grade.

I still have a final to take which is worth 40% of my grade.

Can you tell me what my current grade is and what I have to make on the final to get a 70%?

Thanks for any help.

72*.25 + 60*.30 + 80*.05 = 40 which represents 60% of the grade. So right now, you have 66.7%.

For the final, use the equation:
72*.25 + 60*.30 + 80*.05 + x*.40 = 70

Solving for x gives you x = 75, so you need to make a 75 on the exam to bring your grade up to a 70.

Hi,
Take the sum of the grades, each multiplied by their weights; then solve for x, your remaining grade.
72*.25+60*.3+80*.05 +.4x = 70 (Where x is the required final grade.)
40 +.4x = 70
.4x=30
x = 75

Your current grade is 63%. you"ll at least have to score a B on the next test to get a 70% or higher.
