There are a number of causes of BV, although none have been strictly proven. BV just happens sometimes, but contributing factors can include:
Lack of personal hygiene (either partner)
Use of douches (NEVER douche!)
Use of tampons
Use of IUD
Use of Diaphragms
Use of condoms
Use of spermicides and/or lubricants
Too much sex
BV is just a natural overgrowth of bacteria (as opposed to a yeast infection which is an overgrowth of a yeast organism).

wow not true,bv comes from th ph level in your vagina being thrown off such as by semen, soap, lotion anything that may enter the vagina and disturb the ph level. And BV does not come from becuase of your sex partner it's the semen entering your vagina, and it throws your levels off, don't believe your bf is giving it to you, even if he is treated with metroniazol pill you will still get it,there is nothing you can do about it,I heard increase yogurt intake, acidophilllus which is at the health food store..Don't feel bad,it''s ok your vagina is just sesitive.

This is a good question to ask your doctor. I think you should get your sex partner checked to see if it's an issue with him. Also, do you ever douche (that's bad), and what do you use, if anything for lube?
