I notice, many women are copycats. They see something on tv and HAVE to get it no matter how ugly or ridiculous. Don't American women have minds of their own?

I'm amazed that so many people here don't like Oprah, especially the ones who say they've never watched her shows. (How can you judge someone you've never seen?) I see her as often as I can---2, sometimes 3 times a week. I am neither stupid, a sheep who does what someone else tells me to do, or any of the other negative things being said about Oprah fans.

I see her as a bright, articulate self-made woman who has a great spirit and is tuned into world consciousness. In many respects she is like a life coach (that someone up above mentioned). I admire her sense of morality while at the same time she does not get into condemnation for others who don't think as she does. She's an idealist. She could go or do anything in the world with all her money, but she gives back to society in meaningful ways that makes her a good role model.

She's probably one of the most 'real' persons on TV that you'll find. There is nothing phony or artificial about her. Having said all that, I can't recall ever rushing out to buy a product because Oprah likes it. I also don't believe that her backing a certain candidate for president is going to make one speck of difference with her fans. We can all think for ourselves, thank you very much.

Oprah is seen as a reputable, trustworthy source who recommends things because she has viewers' best interests at heart. Therefore, many people feel that anything Oprah suggests must be worthwhile.

Not all American women are interested in Oprah, and being a fan of the show doesn't mean that you don't have a mind of your own. However, she is a prominent public figure, and has a great deal of influence in the United States.

human beings do what human beings will do. i'm truly specific that Oprah is in basic terms following what she believes to be actual. And, while it comes stunning right down to it, i assume she's stunning. we could continually no longer choose others. on the different hand even nevertheless, as people who have faith in Christ and save on with him, we do have not purely the marvelous, however the duty to stand up for what we've faith....with out spreading hate approximately what somebody else believes. If we are nonetheless alive while the tip cases come, i'm truthfully specific that we would perhaps could make a call between life or Christ. And no rely if or no longer Islam is going to be a area of that...i do no longer understand...yet i understand that our enemy would be somebody who does no longer have faith that Jesus is the way, the fact and the easy.

while i understand where you are getting this idea, lets take a look at human history. women in general have been doing what celebrities do since the beginning of civilization. only celebs used to be called royalty or nobility. so one might say that european women are the same (ie, shaving the hair line back the way elizabeth did, or wearing the tall powdered wigs like marie).

americans dont have nobility. we have celebrities. hence the copying.

and only SOME american women do as oprah does, many follow others and then there are some non-followers who do their own thing altogether.

humans being are the same around the world, it's the circumstances that might be different.

Oprah is on during the middle of the day when a lot of normal people are at work. It's brainwashing effects along with the complacency that eventually develops from staying home every day, eventually breaks down their free will and they cannot do anything unless Oprah tells them too. Kinda' like a sadistic game of simon says with someone saying "Va-Jay Jay" every now and then.

I have no idea why people watch Oprah sooooo much and do everything she says. Your right about the ugly and ridiculous stuff, just look at some of the clothes at a runway show. Its so ugly I want to throw up.

I don't give a fiddler's fart about Oprah.

So the real question would be "Why do SOME American women love to do what Oprah says"
