No, they are not. LSU is the most talented team in the country. They have one of the best recruiting classes and they have big names on their team. They jumped five spots because they are that good and I think the media wants to see Ohio state embarrassed again this year by the SEC! As far as it goes, they are the best team, they played more teams ranked in the top 25 than any other team this year and yes they lost twice in triple overtime to teams with big name players (woodson, mcfadden). No other 2 loss team can boost the same. Lsu plays in the toughest conference in the country and still finds ways to win 10+ games every year. The talent for LSU is 3 and 4 string deep and will only get better for them.
While other teams get tired and run down, LSU has 3 and 4 talented guys waiting to take the field, so they are always ready to play. That's why they are so dominant in the second half of games. Whoever believes they are media darlings needs to go read up on the stats and the talent of LSU before shoving their foot in their mouth again.

I agree with those of you who disagree that LSU is the new media darlings, not only are they not, they usually, up until this year have gotten no respect (and I think a little bit of the respect they are getting this year is compound from all the media di*ks who have done nothing but talk about the LSU coaching rumors since michigan lost their first game, and team torubles, all year, finally now at the end of the season they have some piece of mind) they have probably deserved more respect in the last few years than this year. Remember when they beat OK for the NC in '03, and took the hit for OK being in the big game, LSU got all kinds of flack and disrespect for doing what they were supposed to do, win a football game, OK didn't get **** for losing the NC that they should have won, especially if they shouldn't have been there, but the tigers got the heat for that, and here we are again at no.2 after a wild last weekend and hopefully this time LSU wins and can actually get the respect they do deserve.

I'm glad to see anyone else besides Notre Dame be the media darlings. I'm an Ohio State fan and don't feel that Ohio State has been the media darling but I guess I'm biased. I also DO NOT think LSU is the media darling this year. They have had a hugely successful program for years just like USC and Ohio State and LSU deserves their accolades just like Ohio State does. They both lost big name talent last year to the draft and yet are right back in the middle of things this year. I guess I would have to consider Florida another elite program as well. It's Notre Dames poor record that made it nauseating to hear about them over and over and over again all the time......

LSU is not the new media darlings, they are actually the opposite if you consider they are in a bad big money market. They are just a very good football team that is a little over rated this year. The media bias is with teams like UCONN and USC because they are in big markets. Look at how Rutgers in New Jersey got pushed last year. LSU is in the best conference in college football and won it so I would say it is a story worth talking about.

Not after they lose the NC but if they do then they'll be the darling of the media only in Louisiana. The rest of the football world will keep pointing out they have 2 losses.

Nope, that would be Ohio St. considering the sports media says they deserve to play in the championship game while having to play no good teams all year. See Hawaii as an example of where Ohio St. should be in the polls.

To the guy two above me, they didn't do what they were supposed to do. They were supposed to give 20k tickets to Oklahoma, but instead they stole them. I used to be an LSU fan until they pulled that stupid stunt. What a complete lack of class.

I would certainly hope not. I was watching one of thier defense players being interviewed by K. Herbstriet last night on ESPN. I couldn't understand ONE word. I think he was talking about his maw and paw, but I'm not certain.
They don't interview well and I ended up turning the channel.

Ya, I would disagree with this question as well. All I hear is "Should the Tigers be there?" It was West Virginia...solved that little problem didnt we?
