i dont know what the world is coming to. Part of me thinks how would i be if it was my child that started the fire. Then i think i know mine wouldnt as i have brought her up to respect others and their property. Then i think what if i were the parent of one who had died....... and i dont think i would ever be satisfied about the perpitrators sentence. I think if i were a judge i would want to know where the parents thought these 2 kids were when they were burning a factory down and killing 2 people! I know some bad kids can come from good parents but if i thought for a second at the age of 11 or 13 my child could do something like this i would get her treatment of some kind. Tough love, if you love someone then sometimes you have to be hard for their sake! And lets face it at that age the parents hold the resposibility! You cant even be home alone at age 11! Never mind fire teaching..... It should be parent teaching!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The thirteen yr old should get Juvenile Life sentence. The adult should be charged with murder if the fires were intentionally set. If they were a result of negligence, then maybe he should be charged and punished for a lesser crime. Also, he should get a harsher punishment for involving a Juvenile in his crime.

It amazes me how a parent does not know where their 13 year child is.
What has it come to when parents don't know.
I know where my 15 year old is and where my 13, and 11 year old are 24 hours a day 7 days per week.

Its a shame. But!

They definitely deserve a prison sentence and then rehab.

Don't they have to be convicted first....?

However if found guilty then they deserve the full force of the law.....although I doubt they will get a fitting sentence.

Justice will be dealt another blow by the might that is the Law.

You already know what happens new identities and release.
Parents of the 13 year old should also be prosecuted. Oh if only we knew the answers.

Awful crime. You ask " what should the yobs' punishment be "
In my view it depends on what you want to achieve !
Pure REVENGE ? -- then kill the bast*rds... slowly.
PROTECT SOCIETY ? -- lock 'em away and throw away you know what !
REHABILITATION ? -- lock 'em away and DON'T throw away the keys... rehabilitate them.
For those who would prefer REVENGE then how can they then criticize Muslims for cutting the hands off of thieves ?! Curious !! I would much prefer to LOCK THEM AWAY until we were certain that they would not be a danger to society.

Life imprisonment. It should not matter whether or not they knew the people were in there. What were they doing setting the place on fire in the first place.

they should be made to do community service working in a hospital burns unit

if they see how horrific burns are they will lose this fascination for fire setting.....

many young people are interesting in fires and their awesome power to destroy - they were very young and clearly had no idea about the possible consequences of their actions

the deaths were tragic, the whole thing is a wicked waste of life....

i hate to say it but more fire education in schools might help.....(i know it is not the schools role but the fire service have an education wing that goes into schools to try to reach young people to prevent this type of tragedy)

This is just awfully sad and tragic, but I hardly see that your incitement to us to take the criminal justice system apparently into our own hands to pronounce an alternative sentence will ultimately compensate the families of the victims.
