I heard that some city raised it to $8/hr, but then a bunch of businesses backed out of city limits for cheaper labor and that whole plan backfired. Then, I heard that the whole state of CA raised the minimum to $7/hr. Anyone know fo sho?

It's $7.50 an hour, State wide. It goes up to $8 on Jan 1st.

Some cities have higher minimums, called "Living wage" laws. These laws generally only apply to companies that do business with the city.

San Francisco - $8.82
Los Angeles - $9.46
San Jose - $10.75
Berkeley - $13.75

(In some you can pay less if you offer health insurance)
