Great Post.
At one time or another, I have taken many a moment to honor those who have fallen in many of the battles in our history.
I do tend to agree with Zalem even though I am a proud and unapologetic American.
Our troops had great respect for the military fortitude and fighting spirit of their adversaries both in the Pacific and in the European theater.
There are Japanese pilots, Pearl Harbor Veterans who meet regularly with our veterans of that battle. Some have become friends. It is truly inspiring.
I think it is not only noble to give thought to these people and events, but healthy and fulfilling.

Yes. Let's remember stupidity.
Let's remember the evil that made the U.S. take over the independant kingdom of Hawaii.
Let's remember the hypocracy of the U.S. any time it tries to justify killing others.
Let's remember how the U.S. took a purely militaristic attack and turned it into perhaps the most horrific revengeful terrorist attack on Japan.
Let's remember how we colour the past, and pretend that the U.S. is so innocent in comparison to other countries,
Let's remember that NOW the U.S. is killing, raping, torturing, illegally confining people, destroying their homes and families.
Let's remember that there is a reason Canada is not part of the U.S.
Let's remember that Bush is still in power.
Let's remember how poorly built American cars are compared to Japanese ones.
Let's remember how obese Americans are.
Let's remember that Hawaii belongs to Hawaiians, not Americans.

My grandma had just turned one when Pearl Harbor happened. I don't know anybody that fell. Some might be my ancestors though. God Bless everyone and their families.

We can take a moment for all the dead at that incident not only your heroes!
Edit: if you believe in forgiveness, keep all the people in your mind; these Japanese who fell at that war were innocent as the American soldiers. They were only guided by Master minds.
Sorry if I offended, this is my opinion.
