snowblower won't start?

2yr old MTD 5hp snowblower won't start. Last saturday, I put new gas in and it started now nothing. It was emptied of fuel at end of every winter.

Make sure you have spark. Use an ignition tester or remove the sparkplug and ground it to the engine and watch for a spark. If you have spark, check to see if it is getting fuel. With the plug back in, choke on, throttle open give it a few pulls. Remove the plug and see if it has fresh gas on it. If not put a teaspoon of gas into the sparkplug hole, replace the plug and try to start it. You may have to do this a couple of times. If it tries to start but won't keep running the float may be stuck in the carburetor. Without knowing what engine we are talking about it is tough to go much farther. If the carb has a bowl you could remove it and make sure that the float is moving.

replace the plug, and buy a can of quick start fluid, try a couple of quick sprays into the carburetor and try to start again. try this several times and hopefully it will start with that fluid. i think the fluid is either so be careful not to smoke or light a match around it. if you can't get to the carburetor, take the plug out and give a couple shots into the cylinder chamber then quickly put the plu back in before the spray evaporates.
that stuff is also used to start car engines when they won't start for whatever reason. make sure you get the right plug.

Choke may not be closing completely and/or throttle butterfly may not be opening completely. You gotta have both for thing to start. The choke has gotta be closed all the way and throttle butterfly has to be open all the way at the same time.

Pull plug and let it sit against the head,turn engine over and 'watch' for spark. Good luck! ;-)=
