I have already asked this but I did not get to many answerers and wanted to get more. So I want to start using tampons and I think the only way to feel at ease about using them is by talking to my doctor about them and hearing her opinion. I am really shy when it comes to talking about these sort of things so I was wondering if this would be a good way to word my questions. " If I ask you a question your not going to tell my mom right? Well I was wondering what your opinion on tampons is and if you would recommend them to girls my age?" (14 years old) I want to ask but would it be stupid to ask? Also I am not going to talk to my mother about this, she already said I could start using them. The reason for asking my doctor is so that I am not so nervous.

aww you dont need to be nervous! you dont even really need to talk to the doctor aobut it, really, but 14 is definitely old enough for tampons. but if youre nervous about it, just ease into tampon use and get the thin ones (they make teen tampons i think, which are narrower and easier to insert) and it might make it easier to use some ky jelly or lube so it slides in better. i know it's scary; i didnt start using tampons regularly until i was in college, cuz i was so scared of them, but they really are great and easier than using pads. the more you use tampons, the easier it'll be, so just practice

The part about not telling your mom is kind of silly. If you're not comfortable talking to your mother about it, asking your doctor is a very mature alternative. However, telling your doctor to not tell your mom makes it sound like something awful, and it's not. If there's one person you need to be completely honest with, it's your doctor. There is nothing embarrassing about asking about tampons. (Wait until you're older, visiting your gynecologist, and having to tell her about your sexual activities - solo and with a partner.)

You could always call your doctor's office, ask to speak to a nurse, and ask a general question. You don't have to identify yourself. Ask what the health risks are for a woman your age using tampons.

You don't need to be nervous. Most women can wear tampons with no problem. Make sure you read the package information and, if you need help (even if it's embarrassing), ask your mom. She's been there and can help you out.

Aww hun, don't worry everyone gets nervous about using them at first, after a while it just like putting on lipstick. Doctors can't tell anyone anything that gets said to them, even if they spot your mum or your mum asks him/her. It would not be stupid to ask her, if you think you need reasuurance first then what you said sounds fine, i can garentee she'll say "they are suitable for your age as long as they are on their period", you could ask her to demonstrate one using one on you if you want? JUst an idea. Know i would never go back to pads. My sister and her friends are all 14/15 too and they have just started using tampons also, they all agree they are great. Just takes time and practise like anything else.

Why don't you go along with your mum nect time she does the shopping in the supermarket and as you along the isle's (spelling?!), pick up a box of tmapons and put them in the trolley. She probably won't say anything as she'll realize you might be a it embarrised and will just continue to buy them in future, without asking.. What me and my mum did lol.

By all means, if you feel like you need to talk to your doctor about, just do it! You don't need our advice, no question is stupid when it has to do with your health.

hey there sweetie....i think that you should ask your docotor, if you dont feel comfortable asking or talking about it with your mother... there are alot of things that you need to be careful with when using them.... making sure you change them often... and dont leve them in for so long.... i think you should do whatever it takes to become more informed!=) good luck!
