What everyone else said is true, but not everyone who's right-footed/handed rides regular. I kick a ball with my right foot, but ride goofy. When I went snowboarding for the first time, the girl at the rental counter tried convincing me that I should ride regular based on the fact that I kick with my right foot, but from my little experience skateboarding, I knew that riding goofy would feel more natural.

Your "strong foot" is actually the back foot in boardsports.
It is your back foot that initiates turns, not the front foot.
This can be a little confusing to beginners.

I get more control with my right foot on the back of the board (skateboard, surfboard, snowboard and wakeboard). That's where most of my weight is even though they say you're supposed to be balanced all the time.

I think you have it backwards - the dominate foot goes in the back. I am right handed and my right foot is in the back skate boarding, water skiing, windsufing and snowboarding.
