I'm a college student and I didn't go to first half of the class today. But I knew I have a quiz/test in second of the class, so I went to take a test. Professor was PISSED and told me I might fail the class.
What...? This was my first absent, and I've always been a good student. I was late for the class a few times, but I wasn't VERY late. Also, my grade so far is aroun B/B+, which isn't bad at all.
Was she serious? I do think I'm a hard working student.
So, do you guys think my teacher is just crazy or am I doing something wrong?

Failing the class is perhaps a bit over the line, but you were definitely rude. If you were running in late halfway through the class because you overslept it would be one thing, but coming in halfway through because you know that the quiz isn't until the end is unacceptable.
You can choose if you are going to go to class or not, but coming in late shows to your prof's class shows that you do not think that the material is important enough to pay attention to. She probably won't (or can't)_fail you, but don't expect to get any grace from her in the long run (which counts much more on papers and essay tests).

Well you should be to class on time every day. And if you knew that there was a quiz/test it would have been wise to be there early. What if the teacher let everyone come in on there own time? What would happen then? Just try to see the teachers point of view. Maybe she was wrong...I don't know.

as a former university prof.
the reason we put a quiz in the class is to get students to come. attendance is number one. you are subverting her plan by only coming for the quiz. my experience is that if students don't come to class they have very little chance of learning the material and passing.
check the syllabus and how you get enought points to get a grade. it's about what you earn not if the teacher likes you.
go to class on time from now on.
or she will just make a rule that you can't take the test if you weren't there at the begining. look from her point of view.
she's not crazy. go to class. it's best for you in the long run.

BS......... I guess she cant fail you for that, she just got mad, and if it was your first absent, then you dont have nothing to worry if you are a good student of course, because if u are always cutting and maybe be interrupting the class for been late then you should be worry

Everyone has a bad day. It sounds like this was your teacher's bad day. Take it with a grain of salt. If this behavior continues, then you may need to be concerned.

If I was the professor, I wouldn't have let you even take the quiz.

She is treating you like a grade school student. In college you are not forced to go there. They need to teach at a bigger college and see if they don't laugh her out of there.

Choose the behavior and you choose the consequences. You chose to be late; those were your consequences. Deal with it.
