Is there an agreement with lable records to play certain songs a certain amount of times during the day?
Any other reasons?

There is no agreement that I'm aware of, but most local stations just take requests and play the requests. The more popular songs are requested MORE, so they get played alot more. They usually go through the top 20 or top 25 songs on the Billboard Hits and just play those, then insert requests in.

Call-in requests, usually. I'm assuming you mean top 40 radio stations? They play what people want to hear, and they probably follow the charts as well to see what's popular. People who channel surf will stop on a station that's playing a song they know and like, so they tend to play songs people know and like.

there is no aggrement prople just like them so they request them more often
