Sometimes when a ball is out of play a player moves to retrieve the ball, but nowadays we use a multiple ball system. The addition ball is used before all players are ready to continue and may loose a goal.

No. Defending players will exploit this a lot by kicking the ball away. Yes I know you get carded for doing that but it will still be exploited. The extra readily available balls are used to keep the game running so no rhythm is broken so easily. I say keep the pace up, get the game going. The defenders should be on their toes and ready at all times

This has been an issue in the past. But apparently providing the player asks the referee if he can take it quick, and the referee agrees, then it ok.

Thierry Henry was one for them when at Arsenal.
