It depends on which version of *each character* you're talking about here. Anyone could rig this fight so that either character loses, that's for sure (there are both strong and weak versions of Superman and Goku).

But, if we assume a non-rigged fight, comparing apples to apples (for instance, comparing current continuity Superman to *early* Super Saiyan Goku--the idea is to get the power levels to at least somewhat match)....

Some trends do show up.

--Both characters have been beaten to death previously. However, the catch is....Doomsday was a big hulking monster....Vegita and some others weren't by and large (not counting Majin Buu or the androids). This rather tells me, that at least early on, Goku wasn't so much invulnerable as just highly resilient. This would give *most* higher-powered versions of Superman an edge *up close* in a fistfight.

--However....if Goku gets any distance at all, Superman gets owned. Almost every version of Supes *but* the godlike Silver Age version, had a limit on their power--they couldn't casually move or destroy *whole planets*. Son Goku, at the higher Super Saiyan levels, *could in fact* move or destroy planets.

So at long range, the Kamehameha Wave beats Heat Vision.

And yeah, some DBZ freaks will point out that Goku has had martial arts training....but you know what? Deep down Goku is a *goof*. He doesn't take the whole fighting thing seriously for most of the series. Meaning his hand-to-hand skills are likely just as average as Clark Kent's would be. So up close, Superman owns by virtue of being (usually) slightly tougher.

Just my humble opinion though....

Superman is just awesome and would win because he has an edge to him! Goku does have weaknesses, a heart attack would kill him or hunger.

Contrary to what most people here are posting, Batman is in fact one of the most capable superheroes of the DCU, perhaps even surpassing Superman's 'league.' What many forget is that while it's true he does not possess superpowers, he is in fact the ONLY, repeat only member of the JLA to not possess powers. The point is that he's so capable, the very peak of the human mind and body that makes him a superhero. Batman without Kryptonite definitely has a slimmer chance of defeating Supes. But under the right circumstances, he might just be able too. Batman could probably buy time, take note that he is a very agile fighter, being able to avoid Darkseid's Omega Effect. Also, in DKR he managed to last for a rather alright time with a suit of armor. But truth be told, Batman doesn't really have that much of an advantage physically speaking but again....there's always magic. Whose to say that Bats doesn't have secret magical devices on his side, hell, comic-book writers these days can just spin up deus ex machinas on the spot. And since you said 'Kryptonite,' you didn't mention 'synthetic Kryptonite' like ahem...RED Kryptonite.......right? ;D

Yeah Superman, the guy who has been around for years and years VS the Hair Style changing Dumbass named Goku who has been around for like 20 years, not even, Dragon Ball Z never stated that Goku could move faster than light, count all the times they say, "Lets Get there as Fast as We can" and it takes them like half an episode, or manga to get "there". Goku while pumping himself up with Ki could probably lift like what, a few million, probably Billion tons? Thats nothing to Superman, who constantly is lifting quintillions of tons on Mondays, Goku is an idiot to the Nth degree while Supes is a Super Genius, Superman knows how to fight, and fight smart too, damn I dont know where people think he is just a plain old brawler, Superman can survive in space and is much more durable, he sits in stars for fun, Goku hasnt even been shown to be able to survive in Space in Dragon Ball Z,
Dragon Ball Z is good and all but you cant run around comparing two different characters from different universes like Goku fanboys do, DBZ characters are not the most powerful fictional characters around.

since superman can't match goku's speed, goku could use instant transmission to teleport supes into other world where there is no yellow sun. supes loses power and gets his butt handed to him. in this world, goku is still powerful enough to destroy the sun, and can sense energy to fight in the darkness. the key to beating supes is to circumvent his near invincibility. Goku is almost, if not exactly, as tough as superman if you consider the amount of punishment his body goes through in the course of a fight. being punched through mountains, buildings and rocks on a near regular basis and shaking it off definitely is some indication of goku's durability. however, goku can be pierced by sharp objects if 1. it used be a person of similar strength 2. he's not paying attention. supes doesn't have this flaw, as far as i know. but i still gotta pick goku

haha the guy who says goku doesnt take training seriously is not correct. fighting is his life and vegeta has to finally admit at the end of dbz that he is a genius. not a goofball but a fighting genius.he trains everyday almost all day. he has way more skill than any other martial arts character.they have already had this fight and it was decided goku would win in super saiyan 1.he can undoubtedly lift more tons than superman, can teleport, and has enough power to destroy galaxies. when goku and buu punched each other in the face when goku was ss1 they tore the whole planet apart almost destroying it from one punch! thats alot more power than superman has.even when he first turned ss1 he has enough power to beat superman.

poor dbz morons. I love dbz, but Goku can cut his face with a razor....or some slob with a knife (but they would never get that lucky)....superman is impervious. Duh. Goku could punch him....at ss4....and it would hurt him a lot....and lets face it....Goku is wayyyy more skilled than he is. But in terms of power? Superman hands down. Goku has to build up all that energy.....and if he starts to loose it, he reverts back to his previous forms. Superman is still superman. And if he fights supes in daylight.....he is really screwed cuz supes wouldn't even get tired. The fight would last 30 mins......goku would be at his strongest level....and he would tear supes up....but then would be drained. Supes would heal up and then flick him with his pinky. game over.
