I had two brothers, so my dad bought us triple bunk beds, and I got the one on the top. It was so tall that there was only about a foot between the top bunk's mattress and the ceiling. One night, I fell out of bed and got bruised up pretty bad, but I never developed a fear of heights.
One time, we were playing in the water before I knew how to swim, and I got into water over my head. Very luckily for me, my older brother was nearby and he rescued me. However, I never developed a fear of water.
We were out in the hay field picking up bales of hay, my brother driving the pickup. He didn't see me get off the back when he stopped, and he started to back up the truck. It knocked me over and I could see the axle coming right at me. My sister yelled at him to stop just in the nick of time. However, I never developed a fear of getting run over.
But despite not being scared of any of those things . . . one night, I went to bed in the dark, and a wasp had gotten into the house and was on my pillow. I put my cheek right on it in the dark, and it stung me. For a long, long time after that, I wouldn't go to bed without looking around with the lights on first, and I am still somewhat scared of wasps to this day.
Oh, and as a kid, demons -- I was scared there might be demons in my bedroom walls.

The things under my bed that came out when the lights were off...and dark water, as in lakes, a fear I've had all my life. One summer some camp counselors threw me into a lake and I have never been so terrified; I couldn't get out fast enough.

After my parents assured me monsters don't exist, I was afraid of a housefire and/or a home intruder.
And yet I played with matches and forgot to lock the door sometimes! Go figure.

Clowns. I had a clown figure that sat on a dresser right in front of my window. During the sunset I would only perceive its silhouette. It scared the hell out of me.

When I was five, I slept with a blanket over my head so aliens couldn't suck my brains out. And when I got a little older, I was scared of dogs.

Fire. When I was 8 I was in an explosion. Fire still scares the living day light out of me.
