You mean you didn't know that Politics was a sport? Of course they use the same tactics, you have to have rules. As far as unethical activities you mean like putting a needle in a baby's head as it crowns on birth to withdraw the stem cells from it's spinal cord as you kill it. I would say that, that is down right unethical.

I'm on neither side. I'm not on the fence, because I'm not even in the yard. The Democrats are working dilligently to secure a type of freedom. The Republicans are too. But, they actually tend to make that less obvious. As it turns out, the type of freedom that Republicans endorse actually embraces freedom.

To some people, even life is like a sports game, though we all live. I disagree both parties run for office to steal our taxes for unethical activites. Just as in any chosen profession, there are bad apples -- doctors sliding by with shoddy treatment, teachers more interested in the three month vacation than the quality of their approach, militaristic coaches.
The degenerate condition our political system is in, is due mainly to our refusal to participate. We have the only system that responds to involvement, yet we succumb to prevailig cynicism. If it brings our downfall, we did it ourselves, not those we elect. We stopped caring.
If you think politics doesn't require participation, you can be sure politics will participate with you.

Politics has become exactly like team sports to some people (most people?). And they seem to think that it has no consequences that are more real than the results of today's basketball game. Instead of trying to solve a problem, they just dress up in red or blue and root for their team. It's going to get us all killed some day.

While many of the tactics used by both parties are similar, the goals are very different

Some of us do, but with others, it is very much like football.
Or... like cars: Ford vs Chevy, etc.
Groupthink is a big problem, and the major (and quite a few minor... like the Greens) parties are capitalizing on it.

I'd compare it more to Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots or Hungry Hungry Hippos, but yeah, that's basically two party politics in a nutshell.
