hahhaa, nope not trying to be a hippy. Just thought it sounded neat. Had an ex whose niece was named River and then I saw a celebrity who named their child River. So just because I like a certain name doesnt make me a hippy! And gotta love the sm a rt a s s people out here.

I like it.
There was a female character on the TV show "Firefly" named River, and it worked really well.
It's one of those names that will work for either boys or girls, but I think it's better for girls. Can you imagine your boy all grown up, in the office and being called River? Me neither. Works for a woman, though.
Go for it. Maybe give her a more traditional middle name, in case she doesn't like it or wants something "normal" in her professional life.

It's just "okay"- and definately more suited for a girl than a boy. I'm not sure it's a name that will travel well into middle age and beyond. Seems more appropriate for a younger person.

I think its because I know of the most adorable little girl with that name and it suits her alot.
If I ever used it though, I'd probably use it as a middle name x

I think it's cute, but would need a strong middle to back it up. Maybe something like: River Claudette or Josephine. I don't now just a thought.

I don't like the name on anyone else. Its like you're saying "im trying to be a hippy, but im not .... just a wanna-be"

I don't like it....it is out there in the "unique" catergory that the celebs tend to name their children. If i'm not mistake Kerri Russell (the actress from Felicity) just named her son that. I hate it.

I think it's an adorable name. It's pretty unique too...Isn't there a girl on Final Destination with that name??..maybe not..
