He had been unhappy for quite some time with the direction that the WWE company was going in. In fact, he asked for his release back in July.
Then he failed the WWE wellness drug policy and requested his release once again. This time, they agreed to releasing him.
He did state he was going to continue being involved in the pro-wrestling business.TNA was interested in signing him, and got him a contract. which explains why he's in TNA

From what I understand, he wanted a more active role backstage, but WWE didn't feel that he could contribute. I'm also certain he wasn't happy with his station in the company. Ever since being slapped on Raw, he's lost all credibility he had regained on Smackdown with the new King Booker gimmick (and yes, the gimmick did lend him main event credibility, he held the title, did he not? And he helmed the Smackdown main event through more than one defense, that dictates credibility).
More power to'em for going to TNA. The new environment has done wonders for his morale and ring work.
The whole wellness issue posted above me is news to me, but it doesn't necessarily make it untrue. I'll admit that I'm very unfamiliar with what exactly drove Book and Ric to threaten to leave WWE.

I think most wrestlers who have left do it because they are upset with there direction in wwe and tna has a much lighter schedule for them. I'm glad he did. TNA is doing so much better then wwe at this point as far as putting on a good show goes.

Please end adressing him as King Booker. He ain't champion anymore. For us who've customary him those variety of years he's merely undeniable previous Booker T. Booker T would not in any respect bypass to TNA, he's compared to Kurt perspective who's fascinated contained in the wrestling. Booker likes the practice variety leisure like the WWE.

He was unhappy w/WWE and he has his own wrestling promotion in Houston. TNA's flexible and less hectic schedule allows Booker to be very active in his promotion.

Booker felt he was being discriminated against in WWE. I personally feel he may have failed the drug test on purpose, so WWE would grant him his release. Smart move!
