Hello There,

I think it’s so wonderful that you are interested in the spirit realm. It is perfectly natural to be curious about the Other Side and as long as your parents/guardians are OK with you exploring the spirit realm then I think that you should continue to do so. As long as the spirit realm is approached with love, respect and knowledge then you should have nothing but wonderful experiences.

Before I go on, I would like to address some of the other comments here. Spirit boards are just as safe as EVP’s, pendulum working, spirit photography, table tipping and the likes….they are ALL ways to open the doors to the spirit realm. Spirit boards just happened to get a bad reputation due to negative movies and wrongly reported press. They also have bad reputations because inexperienced people use them improperly, become freaked out when a spirit actually DOES make contact, run off to tell their friends about their experience and then fear escalates intensely. The same thing would happen if an inexperienced person used a “lesser known” form of communication and had a bad experience. But unfortunately, Ouija boards just happen to be the most popular form of spirit communication because everyone and their brother know about them, and they are the "bad apples" of spirit the spirit world. I have been using spirit boards since I was a teenager (I am now 30) and nothing harmful has ever happened to me….ever! (And no, I’m not a liar!)

So now that I have that off my chest, I’ll try to help you with you problem. The first thing that you are doing wrong is asking the question(s), “are there any spirits here that would like to contact me” or "is there anyone here”. Never, ever ask for just any spirit to come to you. There are negative spirits in the spirit realm (our personality stays with us after death…if we were mean and nasty in life then we will be mean and nasty in spirit form) and they would love to have a chance to speak again. This is where most novices make mistakes.

When you ask for “any and all spirits” to come to your communication circle, then they will. You are opening a floodgate by asking this, and your spirit guides know this. I’m sure your guides are blocking out each spirit that tries to come through because they know you are working the board wrong. They are only trying to keep you safe…especially since you have a genuine interest in the spirit realm….and I’m quite sure that they are not allowing your spirit board to work. You guides knew that if your board did not work, then you would come seeking answers from someone who knows better. (You’re at Yahoo Answers, aren’t you? ;-D Spirit guides are slick like that.)

Anyhow, a better thing to do is to ask your guides (and the God you worship) to protect you before you start a communication session. Acknowledge that they are there and that you are open to receiving protection from them at all times. Your guides will not allow harmful spirits to come to you.

Once you feel your guides with you, lightly touch the glass with your fingers and ask for a specific spirit to join you. (For example, a grandmother or another deceased family member. In other words, someone you know.) Do not demand the spirit to come, only in invite them. Believe it or not, spirits do have a life in the spirit realm and might be busy at the time of you session. If no spirit comes to you, then ask your guides to send a helpful spirit that they feel best to communicate with you. Let your guide make this decision.

After the session is over, tell any spirit that you communicated with that you would like them to go home and thank them for joining you. As a double precaution, ask your guides to escort any lingering spirit back to the spirit realm. They will do this for you. After this, thank your guides for their love and protection, and then put away your board.

Do not use your board again for a while unless you really need to. I would say once every 1-2 months is a good timeframe. Also, until you get use to using the board, ask an open-minded friend or family member to use it with you until you get the hang of it. Fear could also be blocking your board from working since you are using it alone. Once you see that there is nothing to fear by using the board with a companion, then start trying it solo.

Well, I hope this has helped you out somewhat. If you still need some clarity then read the book, “Buckland’s Book of Spirit Communication.” It’s an excellent guide. Good luck in all that you do!

Hi, I'm 14 too! But, I have asked a demon about Ouija Boards. The fact is, the glass, or whatever you use, if it is on the surface, I think it's too hard for them to use. I use a string with a weight on it. Works pretty good. I swear, it starts moving towards where it wants to go. Sometimes I move it closer to where they move it, and if you are on the wrong place, there is some kinda force pushing it away. Just use a string, with a weight. Or something similar to a pendulum. And don't forget to put some numbers! Yeah, and....... You may talk to Satan because of that candle...... O_o Just a warning.

Ok, I know that you are interested in spirits and the afterlife etc. There is nothing wrong with that - in fact by nurturing it and adding values, the whole spirituality concept could be good for you.

I'm going to talk to you from experience.

I don't like Ouija boards - they are like opening the front door of your house and inviting anybody in. This is because many people do this without protection. What you should do is look in your local paper for local spiritualist churches. Go along to one of the meetings - maybe even try a few to see which ones fit you best. I personally don't like religious ones but the one I go to is a nice church where they don't preach. From these churches, you could get an idea of local mediums, meditation groups and healing circles - all of which could help you on your journey. They will teach you about your spirit guides and how to get in contact as well as nurturing your gifts.

Please don't do the ouija bourd as you are inexperienced. If you have to, please say a prayer and ask your spirit guides to come in and protect you. Also imagine a white light surrounding you so that harm won't be done to you. Always ask for this help with gratitude. I have to admit that I have never used it, so I'm unsure what to do to break it when you have finished, but please be careful. I know there are many who don't like it and think it's fake, but I don't believe it is. Be careful. If you want any more information please contact me.

A Ouija board works by you subconsciously moving the pointer. Generally you use 2 people to move it so that you don't notice your own movements, and it is on rollers to facilitate easy motion.

The moral of this story, the Ouija board is a proven fake.

From the wikki link below:
"Skeptic and magician James Randi, in his book An Encyclopedia of Claims, Frauds, and Hoaxes of the Occult and Supernatural, points out that when blindfolded, Ouija board operators are unable to produce intelligible messages.[7] Magicians Penn & Teller performed a similar demonstration in an episode of their cable television show Bullshit! in which the operators moved the planchette into what they thought was the positions of "yes" and "no" without knowing that the board was turned upside-down, which caused them to move the planchette into blank spaces on the board."

Home made ones often work better, as you can put more phrases and key words on it or have a better letter arrangement. Of course they work by way of the "Ideomotor response", the slight movements of the (motor) muscles of your hands and arms by the Subconscious mind (ID) hence the term, Ideomotor. They are tools that let you communicate with your SUBCONSCIOUS MIND., by giving it a way to "signal" the conscious mind, as to the meanings of the movements--THIS aspect is Legit, BTW as many Psychologists use Ideomoter based devices (like Chevruel Pendulums) to probe the subconscious of their clients.-------At LEAST it works in this respect, we all Believe in the subconscious mind, don't we?, So it is NOT by any means, a "useless toy" It is also said that we ALL have LATENT ESP abilities (Clairvoyance, Telepathy, etc) that also "Live" in the subconscious mind. Such devices that can communicate with it, Like the Ouija Board can also tap into these abilities.---Thus allowing communication with "Spirits", etc., that Clairvoyance is said to accomplish. Two or more people work the pointer on the Ouija Board, so as to minimize SUBCONSCIOUS interference from any one person, and hopefully, get a "cleaner" version of the ESP or "psychic" data that the operators hold in common.

I know you don't want to hear this, but I would try patience. Sometimes thigs like that work more with practice. Or, there may be no spirits around you, or in your house, go to other places. You might aslo look into some other symbolism to put on it. The more significance you feel it has, the better it is likely to work. (you might try wood instead too, it is closer to a natural product, that spirits may be attracted to.
