Actually I have heard of a accidental death of a man with no legs that they left in a tub of water alone and left him there where he finally drowned. I have only seen one of these places in my life that was decent to it's people...and if I can't go there..I just won't go. I will say that the people who clean the places are usually very nice to the clients, but the food often doesn't meet the needs of the people's diets, meds. are often delayed, and the nurses are under staffed and so the care is not good. It is not the fault of the staff as much as it is the fault of the govt. and corporations not providing what is needed. All I can say is if you have a loved one in a rest home, you better visit frequently or they will not get what they need, unless you get lucky and find one of the few that is top notch!

I doubt it. Every now and then we read about some "angel of death" nurse or orderly, but that is the exception. I do think the people who get the best care are the ones with the most visitors. I sure don't want to end up in a nursing home. I know I would never have visitors so I would be the one to sit in my wheel chair all day in my own urine. I wouldn't be bathed or have my hair brushed. I don't plan to ever enter one.

Of course they dont or they would be arrested for murder. When you run out of money, Medicaid picks up the tab because by that time you and your loved ones are totally broke and have spent all of your life's savings. They dont worry about you being too much trouble to care for since they often dont do much other than minimally take care of your basic needs anyway. The best option is to save as much as you can so you can afford to hire a private caregiver to take care of you at home.

My daughter doesn't. She loves the people and even goes in on her time off to play games. She and I are going to hold a Christmas party there. I like her facility so well (it's assisted living) that I am looking into moving in when i turn 55.

even when insurance runs out, there is still money out there the greedy corporations can soak up...starting with the government programs.

others, who are too 'rich' for government insurance, must first sell off all their assets, and run their bank account dry in order to then qualify for government assistance.

I know of one elderly man, paying 6000 a month to keep his wife in a home. He has been selling off everything, leaving himself little to live off of for his own retirement.

All those, saving their whole life, for a secure retirement... only to be drained dry in order to qualify for government assistance...

While the rest of the world squanders their income immediately, not saving anything, living only for today.... actually got to enjoy their money & the fuits of everyone elses labor...
and qualified for assistance immedately.

Well, some have... a sad truth. However, most are kind and loving people who have sense enough to take a break when it gets to be to much for them, it can be very sad for them on a daily basis. They have my admiration and good will. The others will rot in jail!

Perhaps it is the other way around...taking care of all those people pretty nearly kills the workers doing the care taking.

Oh my god, what a question. I worked in an Assistant Living
establishment for awhile. I gave the people their medications and I can assure you this was never a topic. Wow is all I can say.....

Of course they don't. I worked in a nursing home for a while, some years ago, & the staff was very compassionate & caring. We would appreciate more happy & positive questions here. I hate gloom.

Then they would be out of a job .......... Most people who work in the Health Care field are there because they want to be. They really do care for their clients.
