The perimeter of a rectangle is 4 sides added up.
2 of those sides are the width and 2 are the length.

W + W + L + L = Perimeter
==> 2W + 2L = P

Since we know the perimeter is 24

2W + 2L = 24

Since we know the width is 4
2(4) + 2L = 24
==> 8 + 2L = 24

Now subtract that 8 from both sides to leave the variable on th e left
2L = 24 - 8
==> 2L = 16

Divide both sides by 2
==>L = 8

so the length is 8

.
Now to find the area, multiply length times width.
8 * 4 = 32 in²

The area is 32 because if the width is 4 that means that u add 4 and 4 to get 8. Then you do 24-8=16, then divide by two to get 8. So then 8+8+4+4=24, Thus the length equals 8. So 8x4=32.

24=(4*2)+2y
4= width
2y=2sides of length
4*2=perimeter of widths added

so
24=8+2y
solve for y
24-8=2y
16/2=y
8=y

width x length = area
4*8=area
=32

P = 2L + 2W
24 = 2L + 2(4)
24 = 2L + 8
16 = 2L
8 = L

A = LW = 8(4) = 32

and it's RECTANGLE, not retanguler.

P = 2L + 2W = 24
W = 4

so

2L + 2 ( 4 ) = 24
2L + 8 = 24
2L = 16
L = 8
