The diamond is a rough diamond : If its clarity is high enough, I send it to my favorite cutter, have it fashioned with the chosen cutting style and then offer it to my regular customers, just like always :-).
The diamond is a polished diamond : I sell it.
The diamond is synthetic : I keep it in my collection as comparison material.
The diamond is fancy red or a good fancy blue or pink, even a great yellow : I will also have a superb smile on my face the coming weeks !!

Got no idea how much it is worth, but if I got 400.000$ I would buy lamborghini and be the happiest person in the world, because I am a dreamer.. In addition I would start studying abroad in good university. I really need money to start my life. I have ~1000 ideas. None of them is fully solved!

Otherwise if you meant whether I would give it to police or take it for myself and sell for a big sum, I will choose giving it to police, because I am not a thief.

And lamborghini is my most beautiful car, so forgive me for wasting such a huge amount for it :D

Good question! Thanx

Probaby have the stone reset for myself. I guess I should say that I would turn it over to the police but the owner probably wont get it back and the police will just end up selling it at auction if its not claimed.

Notify the authorities, then wait and hope no one collects it after 90 days. In most places, it's yours then and you can sleep at night unworried that you may have deprived some poor widow of her husbands wedding stone.

Legally your supposed to turn it in to the police and wait it out. There has been cases of people that has found diamonds and expensive jewelery, pawned it, and went to jail.
But if you turn it in and no one claims it in a certain amount of days, ITS YOURS!!!!!!!
