Why do Motorcycle drivers need to "REV" their engines for thirty minutes in their driveway at 7 am in the moring and not go anywhere? Are you people trying to be jerks or is it something mechanically neccesarry to do with the bike?

Okay, is it a rule that once you buy a Harley you have to become a jerk to everyone who doesn't own one? I mean does the bike make the owners personality change? I'm a fairly decent gentlemen. Does that mean if I ever wanted to go purchase a Harley the seller would say "Sorry, sir.....you have enough money, you know how to ride one...but, you're just not quite rude and obnoxious enough.

In the first place, we ride. Not drive.
A short warm-up period is recommended.
Revving the engine when ice cold is not.
For 30 minutes is pointless.
I take care of issues with my neighbors by talking to them.
Try it, it works for me.
Edit:
Oh, now the "you people" are down to just Harley guys, huh?
I've ridden Japanese 17 times longer than HD, and I'm still the same. The clothes, hair, and even the attitude are still the same. I'll be nice to anybody. But when someone slaps me in the face, expect the attitude to change.
There's one rule you should remember: "Do unto others as you would have done unto you". This includes how you speak to strangers.

stable question! i think of motives why is as a results of the fact they're in uncomplicated terms going topersistent on the city, yet they nevertheless a minimum of placed on a helmet. while i'm out on the line I see motorbike drivers lots while the climate is heat, and at circumstances I see motorbike drivers no longer donning helmets on a similar time as they're on the cycle notwithstanding if or no longer they seem to be a passenger or the motive force. now and returned, I see the motive force in a T-blouse, shorts and turn flops and/or sandals. On a uncommon social gathering, i visit be sure somebody in all motorbike dresses which includes a leather-based jacket, long pants, boots, etc. What concerns me is that in the event that they get entangled in an twist of destiny and that they don't have the right dresses on.

... never heard of that, we like to let the bike warm up all the way before ever driving it, but you don't need to rev it for that and it doesn't take 30 min.
But I lived accross the street from a car enthusiest once and he would start his car and just rev it up for half an hour once a week in the middle of the night too. He probably just needed to start his bike cuz it was sitting and hadn't been started for a while (the fuel can turn into varnish). He didn't need to rev the thing, he's probably just a deuche bag and liked the sound (as we all do).
Don't throw all bikers in the same pot every organization has it's nice guys and it's jackasses, although we are all similar, remember. We are all better drivers than you.

You should always warm the bike up before you ride it. But I doubt he does it for 30 min. I bet your exaggerating and just don't like bikes. I warm mine up in the summer for 2 or 3 min. and in the winter for 4 or 5 min. to get the oil flowing and the fuel system to work properly. Most bike are louder than cars and I know it can be annoying to neighbors so I always try to keep my warm up to a minimum, especially in the morning or at night.

Since most motorcycles still use carburetors, the engine has to warm up before riding the bike. Motorcycle owners usually have to warm up the engines and "rev" them up so that when they pull out on the road, the bike won't shut off before the engine gets up to operating temperature. Buy some earplugs.

Don't you mean HARLEY RIDERS? I don't need to rev my engine, I have a choke lever and the ability to use it properly. All I need is 4-5 minutes of quiet idle to get the engine warm enough for a 20 degree morning before I go.

I agree with you .. I had a neighbor that would ride his 8 year old around the subdivision in circles around the neighborhood revving his motor aprx every 6 seconds LITERALLY and it REALLY p'd me off...... there was NO reason other than he is an IDIOT that I can figure out why he would do this other than he thought he was being cool ....
I also had a neighbor buy the house across from me and brought half of his freaking mobile home park with him into his single family zoned home and many of them began riding ATV's flying down the subdivision street and then on the property behind my back fence where there is now a sidewalk and I had to go over and ask them to drive at a more respectfull speed as it sounded like I was living in the middle of the freaking Daytona Intl Speedway and I had just personally fought the city to get the speed limit back up to 35 mph from 25 mph because of idiots running off of the road and hitting trees back there because the idiot Utility people don't know how to properly mark a tight curve and drop the speed limit for the curve so they tried making an entire mile and a half highway 25 mph because of an unmarked curve in the road ......
I ride a Sportster and do leave the bike warming up for aprx 3 minutes with the choke pulled out but I do not rev the motor and when coming back onto my street I cut the engine off and coast into my driveway ..... this ridiculous "loud pipes save lives" is pushed by people that don't know how to ride.......
be aware of your surroundings and anticipate what other drivers are likely to do on the road and use your mirrors, share the road, assume people do not see you, maintaint a safe following distance in front of you, behind you and beside you .... this most likely calls for traveling aprx 10 mph over the speed of traffic you are travewling with as most people in their cars will not voluntarily maintain a safe following distance from you and more often will deliberately place you in danger of a horribly painful death ......

My bike takes about 5 minutes to warm up. I know it is warm when it does not try to stall while I throttle it up. This could be the same situation for your neighbor, but there is no excuse for the loud exhaust. My bike is quiet, and your neighbor should take it down the street if you are being woke up.
You do sound angry about it, and I highly recommend talking to your neighbor politely, and even show him or her this thread. If your neighbor will not budge or understand your situation, one of you is being a jerk, make sure it is not you.

If you ride the bike before it's warmed up properly you could do serious damage to the bike.
