I am afraid of car wrecks anyway. Do you have any advice for the driver? Long big car on ice or shorter compact car? Please tell me. (I've never been in this category before.)

When it comes to driving on ice, front wheel drives are better than rear wheel drive vehicles. Never apply the brakes when crossing a bridge unless absolutely necessary because the cold air under the bridge will cause ice to form on the bridge deck. Natural ground heat helps keep the surrounding pavement thawed. Keep in mind that it's easier to get going than it is to get stopped and it doesn't matter whether you have a 4 wheel drive or not, ice is ice. ABS is the only thing that'll help. Slow down before you come to a curve instead of applying the brakes in the curve. Consider reducing the air pressure in the drive tires somewhat. Just because the tire says "load range XXX pounds at 35 psi" doesn't mean you need to use that mch air except if you are loaded to the gills. Most tires will be fine at 26 psi and will give you better traction. If you're going to be driving 75-80 mph, don't lower the pressure that much but if you can go that fast, there isn't going to be any ice anyway. Give yourself plenty of room between other cars when braking or making lane changes. No matter what manuver you make, take it slow and easy. Remember that it's better to arrive late than to arrive dead.

ok well it depends on fwd or rwd awd or 4wd depends on the driver and the tires not the car maybe by wieght but ice is ice and ur gonna slide just be cool and go
