I would go with the 360 and here is my reason

Games Xbox 360 software revenue at retail outsold PS3’s software portfolio 8:1 and Wii’s 4:1, selling 3 times more than both platforms combined.
http://majornelson.com/archive/2007/10/18/september-npd-numbers-are-in.aspx
that because the games are kick *** in quality and games make the console

some say the ps3 has better graphics because people where beat down buy Sony and saying cell possessor is the most powerful thing since apple pie. we all knew that it comes down to how the game play and look and not specs we learned that from Amd and Intel days.

I know gamespot and Ign.com have done comparison in the past showing that games look better on the 360, and Game trailers.com has video of recent game side by side comparisons done hd quality to find out which games look better on the console and 360 wins majority of the results or pretty much tied. here recent one done with assassins creed.

Xbox 360 has rumble in the controller and if you turn it off it feels like something is missing, when you dont feel the gun going off, or hit the curve when you are using a driving game, and the many little effects that go on in the game, and I see why so many people and Sony fans where upset why they didn't; have it in there new console.

I will agree I have heard the results from the first release of the xbox 360 had a 30 percent failer rating, and Sony has been much more reliable. Microsoft has taken leaps and bonds to fix the person console and giving a 3 year ring of death warranty on all the consoles as well most of the consoles you buy right now have upgraded colling cpu and improved the things that caused them to fail. I have had mine since the original lunch and it been working fine with no problems and I use it tons from play games for 5+ hours straight, to watching movies, tv shows, video arcade and demos and more. plus leaving on over night and no issues.

Yes we all know that Sony online if free but you get what you pay for. any real gamer knows that the 360 xbox live is a far superior service when it comes to online gaming and staying truly connected to your friends online, plus true skills, and very good quality service. plus many of the features of the live services are free as a silver member ship

more info on xbox live and member ship level here

I will also give you info on the different xbox 360 consoles
here

but you save a lot if you go with the pro or the elite, the elite comes with the huge hard drive so there no need to buy another hard drive, it comes with both component and hdmi cables which ps3 doesn't come with, head set for communication and again that is extra and it makes the online unified system where you know every one can communicate, and right now two free games that are pretty kicking good titles.

Game trailers did a video game console x mas buy guide the suggest the 360 if you are a hard core gamer if you like fps action, sports titles and many more, and the wii for family and kids games.

and yes 360 is also coming out with IPTV here info here

plus Microsoft can connect to any pc in the house and get view your pictures videos and music, and that is something that ps3 cannot do. plus if you do have a media center pc, 360 will act as a media extender. plus one nice feature my play list I have on my computer I can play it on my console and play it into any game that I play or create my person game music and can play music skip title while in game and also connect and find my friends and what they are doing, join them or ask them to join me. op top of that I can be in a private chat room and being play my game and my friend play his game or watching tv and still be able to talk to him or many of my other friends with out having to exit my game or interfere with what am doing, all this can be done and so much more features on the 360 that the ps3 doesn't have, if anything ps3 will have to copy.

well both console are much better the old xbox and ps2, there many pluses about both console, but to me it comes down to their service features, and great games and right now I feel the 360 has it hands down, with top notch graphics.

I hope you have a great gaming experience and have a good game shoping too.

I choose the PS3, because I have one and I'm a Playstation gamer.

The Playstation 3 will be the better console in the long run. And the Playstation 3 has good games for it, I don't care what anyone says. The PS3's biggest exclusives are coming next year, and one of those exclusives is Haze and that's coming in mid-January. What's coming for the 360 in 2008??? Halo Wars.... it's not even a first person shooter. Also, 2K games annouced that they will be making a PS3 version of Bioshock.

Developers are already restricted on the Xbox 360 because it still uses DVD, while developers can nearly do whatever they want in exclusive PS3 games because of the extra space. GTA 4 will be on multiple discs for the 360 but the PS3 version will all be contained on one Blu-Ray DVD. Basically developers for the 360 are still making games the same way they were made for the original Xbox. PS3 developers have had to start from scratch and build up and that's why it takes longer for PS3 games to come out.

The Xbox 360's hardware issues are embarassing and makes Microsoft look really bad in my opinion. The Xbox 360 is nothing but a original Xbox with updated graphics and technology. Microsoft didn't add any new features or anything. With the PS3, Sony added new features and newer technology and upgraded the PS3 in every way.

In conclusion, the PS3 will outsell the Xbox 360 in at least two years. The Playstation 3 has bigger game titles coming out in 2008 such as: Metal Gear Solid 4, Killzone 2, The Getaway 3, Final Fantasy XIII, Socom Confrontation, Tekken 6, Haze, Gran Turismo 5, Heavy Rain, Eight Days, Motorstorm 2, and a whole lot more. I don't even know of any big 360 game titles for 2008 other than Halo Wars and possibly Gears of War 2. The PS3 wins in terms of exclusive games for 2008. Also God of War 3 and Final Fantasy versus XIII will be out in 2009.

It all depends on what kind of features and games you are looking for. When you compare specifications for both consoles, they are oddly similar. In fact, the only major difference is that the PS3 has Blu Ray (a high definition optical disc format). With XBox 360, you will need an add on for HD movie playback. Of course, Blu Ray and HD-DVD are going down in price drastically, as you can see by looking in store advertisements. So, that may not matter much now.

I would go for PS3 over XBox 360 for one reason, and that is: XBox 360 hard drives are a special type that only work with that console, where as PS3 hard drives are removable, and are simply SATA laptop hard drives, which are easy to replace in case the hard drive fails (which will happen eventually).

On the other hand, XBox 360s versions are less confusing. It seems that you have to be careful when selecting a PS3 as there are several versions, some which may appear identical to the others in appearance but have many features taken out or added.

I personally think XBox 360 is the better deal if you don't want the added Blu-Ray player. If you have an HDTV and would like to play Blu Ray Movies then PS3 may be a better deal.

Then we come to the games: I would recommend looking at the types of games you would like to play. You can look at gamespot.com for game reviews for each console to get an idea of the kinds of games that are (and will be) available on both consoles. Of course this can change in the future, so don't base your decision entirely on that.

It really is about what you would prefer: a console, or a console with Blu Ray included for more money and with different games than the other consoles.

Online gaming is free for the PS3 and Xbox Live is £40 per year in UK/ $50 per year in America, so over 5 years that's £200/$250 saved compared to Xbox live. If you like online play there's Resistance, Motorstorm and Warhawk. And Unreal Tournament 3, Haze and Metal Gear Online are coming out. Also the Playstation Network has Little Big Planet and Home coming to it. The Playstation Store has some great things on it like classic Playstation games, as well as Wipeout HD, Calling All Cars and Everyday Shooter.

Blu-ray discs mean that more can be stored on PS3 games allowing them to be bigger. An Xbox DVD holds about 8GB but a single layer Blu-ray disc holds 25GB and a dual layer holds 50GB yet a 360 game costs the same as a PS3 game. Grand Theft Auto 4 may have to be put on multiple discs for the 360 because they're smaller and you might not like having to get up to change the disc. One level on Killzone 2 takes up 2GB which shows the scale of PS3 games. The PS3 is a very cheap Blu-ray player while you have to buy a £120/$200 add-on to play HD-DVD movies on the 360.

The PS3 has been out a year less than the 360 and it's graphics are already equalling or bettering those on the 360. As the developers become better at developing games for the PS3 the gap will only widen. As far as games go most of the better games for the Xbox are either multi-platform or going to come out for the PC at some point like Gears of War and Halo 1 & 2 already have.

The 360 is backwards compatible with about 300 Xbox games but if you get a backwards compatible PS3 then there are thousands of PS1 and PS2 games you can play.

Here's a list of what I think are or will be the best games for the PS3:

Well right now there's Resistance, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Ratchet and Clank, Virtua Fighter 5, Heavenly Sword, Stranglehold, Assassin's Creed, Virtua Tennis 3, Folklore, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, Guitar Hero 3, Singstar and Call of Duty 4.

Uncharted, Killzone 2, Haze, MGS4, Final Fantasy XIII, Gran Turismo 5, Afrika, Little Big Planet, Tekken 6 and God of War 3 will be coming out as PS3 exclusives. Also the maker of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus is making his next game exclusively on PS3. The makers of Fahrenheit are also making their next game a PS3 exclusive.

As well as this there are ones that are multi-platform like Devil May Cry 4, Lost Planet, Resident Evil 5, The Orange Box, Soul Calibur 4 and Rock Band. Also a new Jak and Daxter and Bioshock are rumoured to be coming out on the PS3. So in my opinion the PS3 has a much stronger and more varied lineup then the 360.

The Xbox is cheaper (but I don't think it is in the long run) and Xbox live is probably better (but I don't think the difference is worth the cost). The original Xbox only had a lifespan of 4 years and with the 360's problems it may only last another 2-3. The PS2 had a lifespan of 6 years and the PS3 is planned to last 7-10 years. All PS3 controllers are rechargeable, you just connect them to the USB port to charge, but you have to buy a rechargeable battery pack if you don't want to use AA batteries for the 360 pad.

The PS3 has much better hardware than the Xbox which has massive 30% failure rate. The PS3's failure rate is 0.02%. 360's are known to scratch discs if they're moved while on, this would be practically impossible to happen on the PS3 anyway because blu-ray discs are hard-coated.

The PS3 is the most value for money as all models have a hard drive and Wi-fi built in but for the 360 you have to pay more in some way or another for these features. Also to play DVDs you have to buy a DVD remote for the 360 but you can just use the sixaxis if you want to play DVDs on the PS3. Only the PS3's games are all region free so you can import games from other countries before they come out or get an obscure Japanese game if you want. Also the PS3 plays full 1080p hi-definition whereas the Xbox just upscales the image.

You should get the console that has the games that you want but I think the PS3 is better because of it's games, features and reliability.

The xbox 360 is a decent console, and has a lot of good games for it. To play online you have to pay a monthly fee. If you buy this, you will probably be replacing it in 5-8 years.

The playstation 3 though, has great hardware, but there aren't a lot of good games for it. There is some good games though...such as resistance fall of man, and a TON of all the other playstation 2 games.
The playstation 3 doesn't charge anything extra to have online play. If you buy this, you probably won't be replacing it for another 10 years.

If you can dish out the money, go with the playstation 3, it'll pay off eventually.

If you just can't afford it, go with the xbox 360.

The ps3 will be around for another 10 years and amazing exclusive titles such as haze and afrika will gradually come out for it. Ps3 is free online and will only get better plus with the start of 'home' early next year it will blow the xbox and wii's online gaming away..

the ps3 has an inbuilt blu-ray player which so far seems to be the next big thing that everyone will own, the ps3 has so many postives that it would be wrong to churn them out and i'd sound like a salesman.

The ps3, in my view, is a great choice which is stable and reliable; it won't let you down mate.

PS3 without a doubt, as there has been major probs with the Xbox like the fact there isnt a fan built in and the console overheating, most of my friend who have had one are ow o thier 2 -3 xbox due to overheating plus there has been a few probs with leaving the disc in and because of the heat it has actually cracked the disk microsoft have addressed the issue of the fan by bring out a ultimate edition, but there is also the fact that Xbox users need to pay a subscription to play online & when home comes out on ps3 you will be ablle to watch films via the internet check out the trailers on youtube... need i say anymore?

360 is by far better and can only go up.
------
+ Better / more Games
+ XBOX Live!
+ Arcade games, Originals
+ Marketplace, Games, Movies, Tv Shows, Gamer pics/themes, Downloadable content.
+ Better exculsive line up for 08'
+ Game Acheivements that add more replay value to games
- Hardware Failures

PS3
------
+ Stable Machine
+ Free online play
- Less games
- Cross platform games score worse on PS3
+ Blu-Ray dvd player

So what that Halo wars isn't anFPS, that doesn't mean it won't be good. Thats like saying Haze won't be good because it is a FPS, but we all know it will. Oh yeah MS is snatching up Sony devs companies =D

Xbox 360, More Game titles, Better online gaming, cheaper,

Yes, a PS3, in a few years will look somewhat better (but to be honest who cares about a tiny difference, lol)

Xbox HD Drive, If you really want to watch movies in better Quality, go to ebay , and buy one i'm seeing ones go for as Lil as £40, genuine ones, from genuine sellers

Majority of Games are now becoming Multi platforms, as Games are costing bucks to make, So Exclusives are getting smaller and smaller.

My choice is Xbox 360, it feels more like a Gaming consel, i know sounds crazy but it feels like it has a personality where the PS3 seems like Sony just want more money, which is just cold, ...your choice :)
