First let me say, I'm not asking this question to make people upset, I just want honest answers.
I keep getting a lot of people upset with me because I am a Pats fan even after the whole cheating thing. I have been a Pats fan always, never a fan of any other team and I just don't believe in giving up on my team, for any reason.

So my question to all of you is, if it was your team who was caught cheating would you give up on them or stick by them?

I just want to add I am not saying I am condoning the cheating in anyway, I think the whole thing was a big mistake on Belichek's part but I have gotten over it.

Do not let anyone convince you to abandon your team. Most of the people who post on this thing haven't the faintest idea of the facts of what went down or what it actually means. I've been trying to get this point across on this issue with every answer I've given- the competitive advantage gained with a third camera is almost nothing. People are making out like they were waiting for the signals and then calling their plays based on what they saw. That's just not what was going on. The strength of the reaction to this from fans is based on a lot of people looking for a reason to be able to say the Patriots are overrated. People have been trying to justify that statement since they started winning. No one's tried to put an asterisk on the Steelers dynasty of the 70's- they were the first NFL team to actively distribute anabol to the players. No one has tried to attack the 49ers 95 Superbowl- they completely paid half their D under the table to circumvent the salary cap- Denver was accused of the same thing when they won. This nonsense with the Pats is nothing compared to any of that. They Are as good as they appear and if they finish this season like they've started it, They're current run is as impressive as any in the history of the league.

If my team was caught cheating (Bengals, very doubtful they cheat, if they do, they're not very good at it!) I would stick by the team as long as they had nothing to do with it but I think the person or persons that are responsible for the cheating should have a lifetime ban no matter what sport it is! It's a GAME win or lose. How could someone live with their self knowing they only got this far because they cheated and the better team didn't make it?

Of course I will stick with my Giants. I stick by them even when Eli plays like sh!t and it's hard cuz people laugh at u for it. I'm not gonna fault u for being a Pats fan, that's ur team, then that's ur team but many people are saying "It's not that big a deal and guess what, they're still winning". People fail to realize the only reason they were able to acquire Moss, Stallworth, Adalius Thomas, Welker (who i think is overrated, he just benefits from poor single coverage) is because the team had cheated and racked up a great record. Now, they dont have to cheat now because they have the talent.

I think the line has blurred between "cheating" and "gaining a competitive edge". Sure the Pats cheated, but many teams in domes are accused of piping sound when the visiting team is on offense. That makes sense to me.
Being a Raiders fan, I hear the "dirty play" tossed around a lot, but I don't think the Raiders cheat. (If they did, why do they suck so bad?)
I look forward to seeing if the Pats can go undefeated. Get by the Steelers, and they have a pretty good shot.

If my favorite team got caught cheating, i would be so bummed and it would take the fun out of watching them play because i would always wonder in the back of my mind if they are winning only because they are still cheating. If anyone gets caught cheating in any game, i think that the game should be forfeited and the win should go to the opponent. Having to feel that you have to cheat is like saying to everyone that you don't have the confidence to win all on talent. I think that since they got caught cheating and since the punishment (if you want to call it that) was so flimsy, that now the coach just might feel like just maybe he can get away with it again. I'm not putting you down for sticking by your team, but if someone or anyone cheats on me in football, or in relationships or anything... the first strike might be forgiven but all the trust would be scarred, and i would most likely move on. Life is too short, and football is too much fun to have to worry about cheaters.

It would depend on the Infraction and the team's response. Now as a Steelers fan, let's say Cowher had done it last year. Don't want to say Tomlin doing it in his first year, considering that Belichick had a LIBRARY of tapes. So let's pretend that happened. Now if the Rooneys said Oh we didn't know about it, then I would lose respect for the team. If they kept him as a coach AND gave him an EXTENSION(here you go Coach cheat longer with us) THEN I would stop being a fan of that team. The minute the players RALLIED around the coach I would stop cheering for the players as well. I would likely stop cheering for the team until their was a new owner, since the coach got an EXTENSION and NO PUNISHMENT FROM THE TEAM.

First off: I am totally over the Pats cheating. I don't think that they gained anything from it and I also think that the NFL punished them as they saw fit.

Second off: If the Steelers were caught cheating I'd be really mad that they'd let down their fans and the league, but I wouldn't give them up as my favorite team.

Third off: I am sure a lot of Pats had no idea it was going on, so I have a hard time punishing all for the actions of a few.

Fourth off: I think the Pats would have the same record they have now with or without a videocamera. Tapes only get you so far. You need talent to take you the rest of the way.

I'm not a Pats fan at all, but everyone needs to get over the whole "cheating" issue. Belichick did something wrong, and was punished for it. Since that time, though, they've gone 11-0 and have been dominant for the most part.

I'm a Bengals fan, and I'd stick by them through anything. And even if they had cheated, the Pats still would have beat them earlier this season.

I'd probably have reacted the same way that I did to the Pats cheating. I'd be pissed/disgusted, but at the same time, the advantage gained wasn't THAT great, and I do think more teams were doing the same thing. If anything, I'd react even harsher than I did to the Patriot's scandal because I'd want the people who made my team look bad punished.

I'd definitely stick with the team, but I'd demand they be punished, and I'd probably want the coach banned from the league. I'd accept any punishment the commissioner gave out.
