These aren't favoties, but they're good classics:
-The Jungle
-Dracula

-Brave New World
-Of Mice and Men.
And these are some that I haven't read but plan to read:
-Three Musketeers
-Catcher in the Rye
-The Grapes of Wrath
-The Awakening
-Their Eyes Were Watching God.
And, right now, I am reading "Gulliver's Travels."

Depending on the age of your children and whether you are interested in books for them I would suggest the following books by Frances Hodgson Burnett:
The Secret Garden
A Little Princess (orginally published as "Sara Crewe")
Little Lord Fauntleroy
I have read and enjoyed all three, they are not just for children and have a following among people of all ages.
