Simple. Demonstrate responsibility. Do odd jobs and pay for half. Show them you made up a balanced budget for your expenditures. Show them you know what you have to do to be responsible about it. Cell phone aren't free, and your parents probably aren't rich. Besides you will appreciate it more if you work for it yourself.

First we need to know why they won't buy you one now. I won't get my high school age son one yet because he doesn't need one. When he does, he'll get one. Until he does, he won't. I know it sucks to be in his position, but that's just the way life rolls. As the song goes, "You don't always get what you want, but if you try real hard you just might find, you get what you need."
Sound familiar? If he shows us a need, we're more than happy to reconsider. Until then, there's just no reason to spend...um, waste...the money on a 'want'.

Get the friend who you secretly think your parents like better than you to talk them into it. It worked for my daughter.
