Barney is not a dinosaur, notice his fully bipedal gait while maintaining an upright body position and a inferior angled foramen magnum to allow a vertical spine.

No my friend, Barney is something much more sinister. He is a result of genetic mutation by selectively inserting dinosaur traits into Human DNA.

Barney is the next stage.
