It seems that they are exploiting a loophole in EU procedures for obtaining a licence. If it works, it is because the bureaucrats in the EU have been outwitted - again. They have managed to tied themselves up in knots. If it doesn't, it must be a scam.

In short, no, you cannot convert or exchange it. You may use your full US licence (car or motorcycle) for up to 12 months in the UK, during which time you need to obtain a UK provisional licence and pass the tests if you wish to continue driving after that time.

It's called fraud.

You are declaring you have a licence that has been lost or stolen.

So if anyone finds out you can be convicted of fraud, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.

just take the test - it isn't that hard

It isn't necessarily "fraud" to have a driving licence without taking a test. My Dad learnt to drive during WW2, before licences existed (I believe). But I'd doubt there are many such people still with us these days.

In olden times you did not need a licence in GB that included Southern Ireland who had this law that you could pay more insurance and not take a test. But getting up to date no test no insurance you could land up banged to right (clink)

Well, if the Chief of traffic policing does 90mph in a 60 zone, why bother upholding the law? Bribe the silly paper-pushers!

No! Ya right, there just going to allow anyone to get a lisense without a test, hell they could be flipping blind and get one. Its called fake, if your using the internet, your going to have to get used to it.

That is soooo dodgy.... it might be true but if it is it really shouldn't be happening. The point of the testing process is to ensure that people are kept safe on the roads!

I'm shocked!
