My dealership advises me to change my oil once every 5,000 miles. But i do it about every 3,000 miles.

sounds most likely like a mixture of the air to gas is not right all the cylinders aren't firing. Have your dad go with you to the dealership.

If it is under warranty, take it to the dealer. You may just have a fouled spark plug, especially with the fact that you change your oil ONLY every 8 months. The 3 month / 3600 mile oil change was not invented by the oil companies to get you to buy more oil, rather it was imposed by the association of auto makers to improve the life of the engine and all the engine components, including the plugs. Dirty oil has more acid and engine byproducts mixed into the oil, contaminents, which can cause valves to become encrusted with sludge that hardens and causes poor air/gas mixing and exhaust restriction, and also causes spark plugs to foul. The whole intake and exhaust system suffers.

Sorry i've never heard of a 2006 Scion Tc but then i'm not familiar with american makes & models (assumption that it is american) but what do you mean "shakes"? if it has a horizontally opposed engine(like a BMW motorbike) then it's fine, if not then it maybe that engine mounting bolts have become loose or rubber mounting blocks have perished, if you can "shake" the engine with your hands then that could be a cause. I'd get it checked,(before you leave it by the roadside).

It does when the Tuning and timing is not synchronised properly. Also, it may happen due to poor electricity supply.....reason being either the coil is not working properly or the distributor cap is not performing well.
