I was 12 in 1978 and I remember it well.

saturday Night Live had been huge and the Bee Gees were very popular, although at 12 I wasn't allowed to see the movie - I loved the music. Many of the fashions were similar to the movie - Platform shoes, shiny fabrics, feathered hair and that was the guys.

Grease was the best movie - still one of my favorites and the album was very popular.

Different strokes was popular for TV as well as Mork and Mindy.

I don't even think I knew what homosexuality was in 1978, things were not nearly as open as they are now.

If you lived in the Northeast - you saw the worst storm ever in the Blizzard of '78. Closed school for a week and completely shut down everything - but really fun.

The Osmonds were more popular in the early 70's. By the end of the decade they were considered old fashioned. No the Partridge Family was not popular then.

I was 10 in 1978, but I don't live in Utah, but I know, it was all Grease, and thinking Travolta was gorgeous.

As far as homosexuality was concerned, it was seen as abnormal, but a bit of acceptance was creeping in.

Music, I loved ABBA, and that was it, the Osmond's were old at that stage, and the bee gees were very popular, because Saturday night fever had been out in '77. It was mainly disco music, Donna Summer and I remember loving the song, 'you can ring my bell' ...can't remember who sang it now!!!

the news was all about Palestine and Israel, and Northern Ireland..I grew up in Dublin, so really it was all about N Ireland.
