I think the bottom line is this: Women have the right to choose because we are in a free country. And since it is that woman's body, she should be able to make that choice. I personally am "pro choice" but this doesn't mean that I think abortion is wonderful. What it means is that I don't think that it is fair for anyone else to make that decision for a woman. I also think that legal abortion makes abortions safe and clean for women.
Also, while you bring up interesting points about the Zygote I don't think that becomes relevent. Most women, myself included a I am now 10 weeks pregnant, don't know they are pregnant until 4-6 weeks into the pregnancy. So unfortunately, most people don't have abortions that early as they aren't aware and really cann ot prove that they are pregnant yet.
And you do make a good point about the masturbation thing.

Wow, this is going to bring out the comments, here's mine:
I think that the main issue in abortion is that they would not be required if there were better contraceptives that could stop the woman's egg in it's development and keep them from developing until she went off the medication - that way, there would be nothing to fertilize. It would need to have little or no side effects and be 100% effective when only taken once a month or so. It helps the woman conceive later if she wants to and it prevents fertilization, which is were everyone starts to get excited. Education and abstinence are nice, but they do not seem to be doing the trick in general and women do bear the entire impact of the abortion issue, physically.
There is also a need for synthetic wombs to accept the fetus if the woman's life or health is in peril due to the pregnancy or other factors. These can and will be developed and their development, along with the contraceptive mentioned above should be the main point for people who really, truly, want to stop abortions.

I agree with what you said about people saying it's murder. It's not. But I believe that in some cases abortions are ok. Like what if you were a 10 year old girl, just had your first period and a few weeks later you were raped and became pregnant. I know it's very unlikely to happen, but still, what if you had a daughter, would you risk her life, being only 10 and having a body not mature enough to have a baby, to try to bring a grandchild in the world? That would mean that when the child went to preschool, her mom wouldn't be old enough to drive the child there (well at least in VA, the driving age in 16 1/2)
But yeah, that's just my belief. I don't think you should get one if you're a whore too stupid to use a condom, then it's your fault. deal with it, maybe the baby will do something good for your life.

It's almost impossible to know that you're pregnant within the first two weeks. EPT test aren't even that good.
Secondly, the legal period for abortion is up to three months. You think there might be an organ or two by then?
Thirdly, a person is a person, regardless of their 'form'. I know more than a few old people that are little more than sacks of meat. Their minds have long since hit the trail. Should we kill them too? They probably wouldn't feel a thing.
No, my problem with your argument, like that of most pro-abortion folks, is that your developmental point is arbitrary. Mine is consistant. A person is a person. Once that sperm and egg join, that's a human being. I have absolutely no problem at all with your having your period or a guy masterbating.

It is a tough idea to grasp. I believe that late term abortions are definitely wrong (with a viable fetus), and attributes to murder. But the earlier term abortions are tougher to distinguish, and to argue.
But to talk about men and loss of sperm (just sperm and no egg), that is totally a different issue - because we are not talking about a fertilized egg which is egg+sperm = zygote.
Still, I have to say that I do believe life begins at conception, and given a choice, I choose to preserve life, personally. If I am responsible for a woman's pregnancy, I would help her raise the child, both financially and morally. But that's just my choice.
Yet, I will be willing to accept that in some cases, abortion may be a lesser evil if it preserves the life of the mother, or the pregnancy is the result of a rape or incest, on the condition that it be performed in as earlier term as possible.

Sperm on its own is just sperm, a female's egg on it's own is just an egg. Put them together and it is the beginning of something new. Kinda like mixing hydrogen and oxygen, you get water once they're mixed.
Scientifically speaking, when sperm and egg are mixed, it is the creation of life. I believe life starts at conception and it should be respected. However, if this conception puts the mother in danger then an abortion, I believe would then be appropriate. Am I right or wrong? No one really knows because it is such a deep rooted belief from every side, and there are more than two sides to this issue. Thanx for asking.

Your splitting hairs about life. Is the view point that a two year old child is not as developed physically as a six year old child so it is less of an offense to destroy the life of a two year old in this case? Once started where does it stop? Nazi Germany used this logic in a slightly different text. Babies born with physical & mental defects could & later were destroyed. Later, "matured" folks that had been born with physical & mental defects & were deemed "not productive" were also destroyed. Google up "Kurt Gerstein" to see what happened to his sister in law Bertha Ebling! Abortion was never a political issue, until very recently. Previously abortion was ALWAYS considered a moral issue of life. A suggestion... always AVOID politics when playing with the lives of others!

Considering we all began from each stage of development, then it's reasonable to say that abortion at any stage is taking a life. Eggs and seed separate are not life, but life giving properties. Combined, they become life.
Women were given the right and responsibility to carry that life, man gave her the right to end it.
Once that decision is made to end that life, the woman is left with the guilt of "what might have been". For some women, depression and guilt becomes a way of life afterward. That's something Planned Parenthood doesn't tell them.

Once an egg and a sperm unite, you have a LIFE! Whether organs have developed is irrelevant. A sperm on it's own cannot develop into a human. Therefore the wasted seed from masturbation is not the same analogy. No more than a wasted egg from ovulation is an issue. Conception of life begins when the egg and sperm unite.

Abortion is killing an unborn child, in no uncertain terms. Doesn't matter that it starts out as 2 cells that meet and collaborate on making a new person. We ALL started out as a little zygote!
Consider this Psalms 139:
13 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,
as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.
16 You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out
before a single day had passed.
