I really don't understand this. Our own intelligence says that Iran stopped its nuclear program in 2003. Why is Bush still trying to impose sanctions? He uses an intelligence report from Britain to help gain support his invasion of Iraq, which was wrong, yet he doesn't believe his own agency now which will stop us from going down an ugly path again ...

I really need help understanding this ...

Iran is thought to have not ruled out a nuclear programme yet. They also support some possibly dubious (and terrorist) organisations like Hizbollah. On top of that they have already secretly developed nuclear weapons programmes and technology in the past. Despite that, I would prefer if the US acted like the bigger person and publicly offered further talks instead of publicly advocating further sanctions.

The latest NIE does not say Iran doesn't want to have, doesn't have or isn't planning to get nuclear weapons. The US feels there are already more than enough countries with nuclear weapons (i.e. more than the US). It's about control/hegemony/capitalism and oil but there are still good reasons for discouraging a potentially millenarian theocracy from acting rashly as people should have discouraged the one in the US by protesting against the Supreme Court decision that 'elected' Bush in 2000.

Our intelligence in the area is weak too. Sanctions help bring down governments. Do you really think that he used only the intelligence report from Britain. Come on now it is a big picture. Bush, this, Bush that. He does what he is advised to do. Now how would you do it? Do you think you could run the government single handedly like a lot of people think Bush is doing?
How do you know he does not trust his own intelligence agency? I suggest you read and learn how the government works and how decisions are made. Read more then Yahoo headlines.

Our own intelligence also said Iran was trying to make nuclear weapons. Iran's own president has said he plans to make a nuclear weapon and obliterate Israel. The UN has been trying to get Iran to let inspectors from the IAEA inspect nuclear facilities, without success. Sanctions are used to try to get the government to cooperate.

The latest NIE report represents a consesus of opinions. We have a consensus of opinion on global warming. Without proof positive, consensus ain't worth squat.

Well first of all you used the word 'intelligence' in the same sentence you referred to Bush. That's a no no buddy! He was never intelligent and seems like he'll never be. The guy is a freaking moron.....hell bent on creating havoc with his lies...running to fight unnecessary wars. He heard that wars are good for economies...so he started with Afganistan then Iraq....now he's gunning for Iran. Well it has proven fatal for our economy because thanks to that jackass we all owe $30,000 individually to the national debt he's racking up!

Because our leaders are hardcore, Zionist warmongers. They will stop at nothing until they dominate the Middle East and control the world's oil supply. Then we can expect gas to go up over $10.00 per gallon. Greedy pigs.

Our intelligence (the 2005 NIE) said Iran was building nukes. Funny how you don't bring that up.

And sanctions against a country is totally different than going to war with them.

Well considering the Iranian parliament screams "DEATH TO AMERICA" and all Iranian military parades march on American flags... gee I wonder why we still have sanctions...

Do you really think Iran is enriching uranium just for nuke power plants and not for nuke bombs? If you do, I have some carbon credits too sell you.
