What you have written as a problem really only means:

X is less than -4.... If that is the whole problem, all you have to do is choose a number that is less than -4 and enter it in for X...

-5 would work as X in this case...I just can't believe that's the whole question...lol

here is a number line.
The numbers increase as you go to the right and decrease as you go to the left

since -3 is to the right of -4, -3 is bigger than -4.

to find a number less than -4 go to the left, -5 < -4.

no. -5 would be and any number after that. b/c the bigger the number the less value it has if it is a neg. #. -3 is greater than -4. so use a no. that is bigger than 4.
