I am 38weeks preganant, my due date is on Dec. 18 and just cant wait. My baby move alot when I'm around other people or when I'm alone and thats great. Just when my husban puts his hand on my tummy she stops moving. Sometimes just by him talking the baby stops moving is that normal? Is it because she does not know who he is?

Every baby does that. I think its because they're listening. lol. She knows who he is, his voice is one of the ones she hears the most right now.

I just had a baby girl who is now 3 months old. The same thing would happen whenever her Daddy would talk to my tummy or put his hand on it. He works long hours and only sees her at night before she goes to bed. She deffinatly knows who he is and she adores him! As soon as he walks in the door, her eyes light up and she gives him a big smile. She no longer wants to be with me when he is around, and he only sees her for about 2 hours every day. I think the kicking and moving stopped whenever he spoke to her inside of me because it was a new voice that she was not used to hearing and it made her stop and listen. Don't worry, your little baby will love his/her daddy just as much as any other baby.

Most doctors agree that the at this state the baby can recognize the sound of your voice and the sound of anyone that spends a lot of time with you. The movements stopping are probably just a reflex or reaction. Doesn't mean anything bad!!

when anyone puts their hand on my tummy my son stops moving all together. I know when people talk the baby stops moving. I think it sooths him. Maybe the baby loves your husbands voice and is soothed by it. I wouldn't worried. Congrats.

Mine gets excited if I say 'Daddy's here!' but when my husband actually goes to put his hand on my belly she gets quiet. He doesn't talk to her directly but I think she knows that 'Daddy' is a word that signifies something happy and safe. Maybe your baby can tell by your heartrate, blood pressure or tone that he's there and picks up the signals.

Probably the other way around. She is used to your husband's voice just as she is to yours and when she feels the warmth of his hand on your tummy and the sound of his voice she is soothed.

its the sound of his voice. When I was pregnant with my first child, she would go for DAYS without moving. Drs couldn't figure it out. Then my husband (active duty military so not around much) would walk through the door and as soon as he would speak she would go crazy, and wouldn't stop moving.

my son and daughter-in-law have a 3 week old son, from the
time he was born he has settled at the sound of his fathers' voice, he knows his mothers' voice also, when she was
pregnant they both spent time daily rubbing her tummy and
talking to the baby, so yes , i would say that that your baby
can recognise her dad

Sounds to me like she finds his voice soothing, this is a good thing for you though, once baby is born he will be able to get her off to sleep by talking to her. looks like daddy is going to be doing the night time soothing!

Maybe she does know and is just listening to him and enjoying the touch. Don't worry as long as the father spends time holding her and helping take care of her she will love her daddy.
