I was charged with disturbing the peace. Only retaliation from an ex's new girlfriend. I have 90 day hanging over my head from a dui chanrge i got. WOuld the judge really give me that time. the girl wrote in her statement that i was ruining her concentration and she did not feel safe in her surroundings. i wasn't talking to her i was talking to my ex whom she was with but i did not say anything to her personally. did not even call her out of her name to him. will a jugde take this seriously do i need a lawyer?

Be respectful in front of the judge; polite and humble. He probably doesn't want to listen to your story. Of course you need a lawyer.

Get a lawyer. I lived in Va Beach for several years and though I had never been in trouble with the law, I do know that the justice system there is pretty strict ever since the riot. I wouldn't mess around with it. Yeah, it is silly, but at hearings like that, they don't have much of a sense of humor. If you are talking about being on probation, they could really nail you to the wall if they wanted to. Be totally serious. Have a lawyer explain that you didn't even exchange words with this woman. Tell the lawyer exactly what happened, and they will know how to put it into words to make it known that you are serious about letting the truth be known to the judge. I hope that they dismiss the case. Good luck.

Yes, the judge will take this seriously.

Yes, you need a lawyer. Pronto.

Yes, your prior DUI will come up - and it may cause you some real grief - even if the charges are dropped/case dismissed.

This should teach you to leave your Ex alone.

This should also teach you not to drink and drive.
