Hi! I am a nanny to a 1 year old little boy in MN. He is very active, and he seems to not be stimulated enough just playing inside, but it is REALLY cold out! Does anyone have any ideas of things to do to keep him entertained? Places to go that he will enjoy? Activities? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Our lil sweet pea Emily is almost 2 (in March) and she always enjoys things she can touch like blocks and items that she can place from spot to another. Filling up a bucket and then emptying it out again. She likes to draw on paper and color a little bit too. Make a trip to a please touch type of museum if you have one in your area. Its a kids type of place that lets even the young ones explore and touch and play. Real fun to just watch the excitement. Most of all though just enjoy time with the little guy. Its seems our Son was just 2 yesterday instead of the 7 year old he is today.
Have fun!

Hi..I have twin girls that are 13months old. It is cold here too and we are limited to outside things being they are just recovering from a bad cold. I like to turn on Christmas music and sing and dance with them, both my girls enjoy that for a while, also, I have a drawer in my bedroom that I allow the girls to dig and play in, they take out all the clothes and then put them back in the drawer, they also take the shirts and place them over their head and we play peek-a-boo like that as well. I also have Christmas ornaments that play music so we will sit in front of the tree and I will let them play with one or two ornaments that are ok and they have the best time shaking the bells and looking at the lights. I chase them around the house on my hands and knees and that really gets them to laughing. They are really not too much into having me read to them yet, but they will sit still for a brief period just to grab for the book. Hope that some of this helps.

Depends on where in MN you are a nanny. Maple Grove has a great indoor playgound at the community center. Most of the malls around the cities have an indoor playground that are great because they are soft. The childrens museum is awesome. My son is also one and I take him ouside to crawl around in the snow and pull him in the sled. Some of the churches offer open gym times. Call the local early child family education center they sometimes offer open gym times and would have some suggestions of things in the area you are in. Finger painting with pudding is great because you don't have to worry if they eat it. The library offers story and play times.

I need some ideas myself.. I have 11 month old and he seems a bit young to do things. I try to take him to the children museum, let him play with pots and pans while I am cooking and take walks in the mall, but that is about all I can do.

I have a book with alot of fun activities for babies and children. I will give you the name of it. It's by Dr. Cindy Bunin Nurik and it's called Fun with Mommy and Me. I'm sure that you can get it at amazon.com or ebay.com. It only cost me $9.99. There are things you can make and indoor activities. I really do recommend it. It goes from birt to age 5.

Bundle him up and walk him out to look at christmas lights. My sis does this with her 1 year old twins and 3 year old and they thought it was awesome. it doesn't have to be a long trip. You can just take him down a couple of houses to view his own block and see what lights are up.
Watch movies in the warm house. Read stories. Make a fort out of chairs and a blanket and play peek-a-boo with the baby in the fort.

I worked in a daycare, we were made to take the kids out unless it was below freezing. Trust me once kids start playing and getting active, they are not as cold. You can go to the park, ride bikes, things you would do during warmer weather.

sled riding, I use this rule 1min outside for every degree. If it is 30degrees outside then it is okay to be out for 30 min.
