For example, my car drifts to the right slightly whenever I let go of the steering. Even if I steer to the left beforehand, it always goes to the right. But don't all cars drift to some extent? After all, that's why you have to keep steering the car, right?

A car with correct alignment will drift some due to the slope of the roadway. If you have the car pointed a little to the center of the roadway and it still drifts to the right, then you are in need of an alignment. Without one, your tires will wear sooner due to the scuffing of the tread.

From what you said, the car needs an alignment check at the minimum. It could be something more serious like the the casters, or the steering joint or even something with the suspension.

If it is consistently drifting, you should get an alignment. If you don't do this, the tires could wear inevenly and it will be more expensive in the long run.

check your tire pressure. If one tire is low in pressure compared to the other tire, the car will tend to drift to the least inflated tire. Start with the cheapest fix. If all tires are inflated to the correct pressure, you will need a alignment done on your car.
