Wisdom, maturity, life lessons to pass on to those who care to hear, generally a stronger sense of self.

I love the poem "When I am Old", that has been adopted by the Red Hat Society. I am not a Red-Hatter, tho they do have a lot of fun and I have been to a couple of meetings as a presenter. That poem is kind of my philosohy about it, lol!
But one of the things I enjoy is that I do not have to be a slave to the rat race anymore, I can work if I want to, but if I slack off, I still have my social security income coming in., and I don't have the fear of starving if I don't have a job, like I once did. I finally have real time to pursue the things I really love to do, and I have more choices than I did when I was younger. I am really enjoying it!
But even if I did not have my health, I think I would still find ways to enjoy life. I have lots of interests that do not require a healthy body, a stubborn attitude, and an optimistic outlook in general.

Best thing is you get to have grandchildren.
Life is lived at a much slower pace, so much more civilized
Have spent my life being ruled by a clock. this lesson, that lesson, playground duty. I now do things when I want to including not getting up until I am ready, and horror upon horrors watching Jeremy Kyle still in my dressing gown.
The aches and pains are the downside but you youngsters
are encouraged to keep fit and work out at a gym. This is my once piece of advice to you eat well and exersise three time a week. You should then have a fit and happy old age.

I can get Senior priced coffee at McDonalds,Jackin the Box, etc. I can get Senior discount at Denny's. The glass is either half full or half empty. One can't do anything to halt the process, so I just "go with the flow". I have many happy memories to think about, too..

wisdom.
patience...
the rest is like a grape, turning into a raisin.
i just turned 30... no matter how you look at it, things start falling into place, and each day actually has a reason, i.e. kids... the experimentation of drugs is fading fast... and work is all you know.
i think the older you get, the more bored-er you become... for you have been there and done that, and even scored quite a few t-shirts along the way. shew... your bodies stop functioning like they used to, wrinkles form whether you tried everything to keep them at bay... your hair falls out despite anything you've tried... your bones become brittle... and all that jazz. so,i say take good care of yourself... and be happy w/ each day you breathe.

I'm glad I didn't die young.
I would have missed:
seeing my daughter marry a wonderful man and give me
six adorable grandchildren.
knowing my first great-grandchild
having my wonderful daddy for 62 of my 66 years
retirement
making so many great friends
having the time and experiences that produce wisdom
learning compassion
having leisure time to pursue my passions
getting to know so many good doctors who keep me going
learning the difference between a lump in the throat and a
lump in the breast.

The benefit for me is having grandchildren, because I get to do all the cooing and cuddling, then hand baby back to mummy,.....lol.. I'm not being unkind here it's just children are very hard work for any Mummy, and as I bought up 4, I am relishing in the grandchildren but then being able to hand back

Having an opportunity to leisurely watch the sun rise & set, smell the roses, see America and enjoy the Grandkids. Time for contemplation and participation in the good things in life.

The obvious is not dying young. You watch your children grow and marry. You see your grandchildren. You settle into your retirement and enjoy what you have worked all your life for. You have the time to pursue your varied interests.
