See the link for how to solve

your system is:

-2x + 5y = 27
-2x + 4y = 20

so x= [(27)(4) - (5)(20)] / [(-2)(4) - (5)(-2)]
= 8/2 =4

y = [(-2)(20) - (27)(-2)] / 2
= 14/2 = 7

You have to know how to compute the value of a determinant.
The determinant here is
the equations are:
-2x+5y=27
-2x+4y=20
They have been rearranged.
-2 5
-2 4
The determinant is (-2)(4) - (5)(-2) =-8+10=2
To sove for x, consider 27 5
-----------------------------20 4 : The first column has been replaced by the right hand side.
(27)(4)-(20)(5)=108-100=8
x=8/2=4
To solve for y, consider -2 27
--------------------------- ***2 20
(-2)(20)-(27)(2)=-40+54=14
y=14/2=7
x=4; y=7
