I'm going to predict that people will say, whatever decade they became a teenager in.
Case in point: gotta have my 80's music -- Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, Howard Jones, Erasure, The Art of Noise, and all that good stuff!

I'm 35, and the 80s had it all.
The pop music was all great, and so was the rock. That hardly ever happens. It's usually one or the other.
From the pop side, you had some of the greatest pop bands of all time, Prince, Madonna, Duran Duran, Michael Jackson
On the rock side... although some would disagree, you had HAIR METAL!!! Quiet Riot, Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Van Helen
I still listen to Casey Casem (sp?) reruns on a local radio station here all the time. They play his actual shows from the 80s, and even include some of the old commercials for Clearasil and such. It's amazing to listen to those shows, which counted down the Top 40, and nearly every song played is, at the very least, tolerable...
The 80s was also the only decade where MTV actually showed videos, and those videos were actually entertaining.

1987 - 1997
Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, Primus, RHCP (before they started sounding like lounge singers), Jane's Addiction, Temple of the Dog, Soundgarden, Screaming Trees, The first three Lalapalooza's (one in the the Gorge in George, Washington - best place ever to see a concert). Soupdragons, some B-52s, Delight (my favorite one hit wonder), Alice in Chains, Fishbone. Good stuff, it matched my social energy. Now I have three kids and mostly listen to the Blues.
